This is part of a larger musing on our need for entertainment, but for now I'll just focus on this question: If video games suddenly vanished from existence and the means to make them could not be recovered, (and yes, I realize this essentially takes computers out of the loop, too) what would you do for entertainment in life?

Think about animals. They seem to get along fine without all this stuff we sometimes claim is essential to living and/or being happy.
Probably walk off the top of the nearest tall building. As I live on the 4th floor of an apartment block that shouldn't be too hard... I even have a balcony.

Seriously i'd probably do a fuck-tonne of reading and generally be depressed. (then maybe walk off the top of a tall building).

Dunno. Probably become a constructive member of society. You know, those people with hopes, dreams, and aspirations?

Can't really say anything new to what's already been said.

Read, watch TV, actually DO something with my life... blah

Invent video games. Derp.

And probably read a lot more since good god is Game Of Thrones taking a while to get through.

Lose 1d20 sanity points.
I'd learn how to draw and start making a comic about my life not to publish it, but just as a form of expressing my feelings, since I really don't know how to do that in just words.

Scratch my nuts, play guitar, drink beer, play guitar while drunk, scratch my nuts some more, doodle incoherent nonsense, read a book, watch telly, scratch my nuts... you get the idea.

I could easily get by without videogames, but I'd really rather not have to.

I would die. Gaming is one of the very small amount of things that still make me happy. If they went, I would become suicidal.

Be REALLY bored.

Watch what I can on HBO and draw shit alot more thats for sure.

I might kill myself though, Gaming makes things much less limited in this world.

I'd probably be very bored and watch way more TV and read comics or something. Maybe write a lot more.

One of a few things. I'd be much more focused on my writing or acting, I'd become a bookworm, I'd become a far more avid tabletop player, or I'd excel in school. Not really sure what.

if it weren't for videogames, i would have more time to be making my video games. Assuming that it were not possible for me to make video games for some reason (say legal ban), I would either just spend my time finishing my pnp RPG system, or I would spend more time at the gym and playing TCGs.
Yeah, if all games stopped existing.... I would go cry in a corner for a while (a very long time).

Homework aside, I honestly don't know. This is something that's actually been kind of bugging me lately. I've come to realize that gaming is pretty much my only pastime. Yeah I'll watch a movie every couple of weeks, and I get in the mood for a book once every blue moon. But that's really it. I don't like sports, and there isn't really anything else to *do* outside around here. I need to find a legitimate second hobby of some sort.
