I recommend Left 4 Dead.

Awesome gameplay, decent graphics, Lotta replay, and the satisfaction of knowing that you and your team did awesome.

I point them in the direction of independent games like Guardian of Paradise, Kyntt, Cave story, Feed the Head, or even Torus Trooper...well as long as they are not prone to motion sickness.

Welcome! You're one of us now, there's no turning back (mwa ha ha ha).
Also, Peggle.
This is like someone coming to you for aspirin and you handing them cocaine.
Good job.
<3 That was such a good analogy. I've been clean for a few months now, I swear!

Yeah, but I bet nobody around you is, pusher.
It's so sad that that's how it happened at a LAN in Newcastle last year... we were just watching someone play Soul Caliber, when my mate mentioned peggle. Bam! Instantly, I pulled a USB out of my pocket that had peggle on.
Hilarious, no? They still don't have time to play big releases because of the master challenges.

Intro to gaming? Halo.

Before anyone even opens their mouth. Halo. Simplest game in the universe, and it even manages to entertain. Sometimes.
Really? Simplest game in the universe? I think Pong might be a little more simple.
You would think so, but Pong gets faster. Halo just throws more bullets around.

For God's sake, if you're not addicted to games, don't GET addicted! If I recommend a game to you it's like handing you a crack pipe. Learn a foreign language. Adopt stray dog. Just stay away from "LittleBigPlanet". Whoops...

I would go for some of the classical platformer franchaise to begin with, then later move on to the full-fledged 3D shizzle.

Yoshi's Island or Yoshi's Island 2
The New Super Mario Bros.
Sonic Rush or classical Sonic 1/2/3/CD
Braid
Contra 4
Metal Slug (whichever one)
etc.

Well the first thing that person is gonna have to figure out is to stay away from games in this generation that punish you for not memorizing every controller button by the first fight.

They gotta start PS1 or lower to start off so that includes like Dreamcast and N64 and whatnot.

Mainly Super Mario Bros. 3, Crash, or Sonic things in that nature.

Strangely enough I had a friend that never gamed and I started him with well Ninja Gaiden. I was surprised with what happened next.
