Alright, so today I was walking to the bus stop, the guy already there was smoking (illegal to do so near a bus stop), spitting every 10 seconds and was shaking like a fucking wind up toy. So I figure this guy got shitfaced on something and his body was making him pay for it. Anyways, when I got to the bus stop we make eye contact, he had the dumbest look on his face, blank expression, mouth agape and wide eyed, he stares at me, I stare back at him and he says in an agressive tone, "What the fuck are you looking at?". He said it in a way that really made me want to punch him in his fucking mouth, but I ignored him and went into the stall, I figure getting into a fight before school was a dumb idea. Besides he could have a knife on him, what happened to the days when kids beat the shit out of one another with their fists in fights, not try to kill one another with knives and guns?

So what would you want to say/do to an asshole like this who said that exact sentance to you? I would probably say something along the lines of "an asshole who should know better than to pick fights with random people on the street". Also this guy is about my age which is 16, a few inches taller than me which is 6 feet and rather thin. So I figure if he made a big deal out of it I could take him in a fist fight.

I would have ignored him, I'm not a brute who solves everything in life with violence. As you say, he seemed like a junkie, and could've been carrying a knife or something. You've gotta be mad to provoke someone like that.

You could have said you were looking at someone behind him. Then said you think its a cop. That kind of thing always messes with junkies.

"An idiot".

5 years ago I would have said nothing, but I'm 23 now, chances are I'd kick his arse should the shit hit the fan.

Well, at first, I pictured a grizzled older man who wouldn't hesitate to kill me so I would just keep my mouth shut....

...then you said he was 16. Fuck that kid, I'd say something back and just let things play out.

Might also help that I've taken on people like that before, so I've lost any sort of fear for that situation >>

If you could back it up, say something like, "A guy who's about to get his thumbs broken"

Those assholes are not worth your time and energy. The best thing is to disregard their statement.

*Stares silently whilst tenderly groping the switchblade in my pocket.*

Call me kooky, call me crazy, but some strung-out sixteen year old doesn't seem like much of a threat, especially when I'm armed (as I usually am).

"I'm looking at the unicorn behind you." Then when he turns to look you kick him in the crotch.

I would say "Have you accepted Jesus Christ as your lord and savior", that always makes an awkward situation more awkward.

Well this is you, what would you want to say/do to this dumbass?
If I was resonably sure I could kick his ass I would definetly respond accordingly, if not I'd just ignore him.

I'm going to steal that, thanks! :D
OT: Get real close to him and whisper: "Don't turn around... I think the guy behind you is a cop"!

Leave him alone, live and let live. Try not to judge him too harshly, you don't actually know why he's shaking. If his smoking bothers you, remind him of the rules, but don't press him.

...but that's just advice. I'd have asked him if he was alright.

I'd probably just roll my eyes. It says "you're not worth speaking to", but with enough subtleness that it shouldn't warrant a fight.

Me, I probably would've just ignored him. I live close to a beachside area which is practically drunk central on the weekends thanks to all the pubs so I can handle people who are off their face yelling and going berserk.

DAMN IT! im fed up with people who just ignore people like him, no offence but i always retaliate, never back down. i dont go around hunting for a fight, but if someone whant to be anti-scoical then im going to put them in there place with witty-ness. if they whant to fight thats fine, but they will lose. oh yes they would.
but in reality you did the right thing.
