Yes, but how long can you carry that then march or if need be run, and not grow fatigued.

You are obviously not familiar with what a soldier or merc would be in a war...
You don´t run arround all day long killing shit!
If you´ve ever join the military you know that what i mentioned isn´t even HALF the shit they make you carry for weeks and you still get enough time at the base/night to recover.
Being a fighter in a War is a tough task, and when you can´t carry even the mandatory equipment you quite obviously fail at being a combatant in the first place.

What do you think is all the training in the basic for?
To make you look better?
No, it´s because without high stamina or strengh you couldn´t even survive a day in your gear.
