I too already have one...

I actually think it's considered a clan crest. Irish and all.

EDIT:
The one my grandma has on a plack over the mantel has something written in latin on it, but I can't remember what it said.

My family coat of arms (or the clan's crest) is fine by me:

Clan motto is "Virtue mine honour."

This according to Google

Granted that's not my name just yet, but it will be as soon as I get around to changing it to that of my mother's side of the family.

This is apparently the Mills Coat of Arms in Scotland.

Okay, apparently the image refuses to work.
You got that from the "House of Names" website. They happen want you to pay for the image and placed a clear image on top of the one you wanted to copy. If you want to bypass their douchebaggery in order to use a symbol that by rights already belongs to you (in name at least), go to options and select "view source", then scroll down and look for a URL that looks like this:

Sound about right.
Badass motto you have there.

I'd like a bigger image to show, but ah well.

I'm not a fan of it. Not just because the black face looks a little goofy, but because it was rewarded to our family for deeds of valor in the Crusades. Don't really like being tied to a family famous for killing people for worshipping a different invisible man.

That said, my family were lords in Yorkshire for over a thousand years. Apparently if they hadn't scrapped the lordships, I'd be the heir to that.

If I could, I'd change it to a wolf or something. Our motto's pretty good though: Hard Work and Diligence.

Edit: I would like to trace it back further and find out what our arms were before the Crusades.

I think it would be a pair of eyes rolling off to the side, a bag of cheetos and the word fuck. You'd see it retreating from some of the battles in history...

But seriously though, I'd have like, a dragon and an axe and stuff.

I googled `coat of arms` and my surname. There were a load of them, my surname is quite common.
Some of them had moons on them, which looked quite nice. One had three hedgehogs on it. So I guess I'd go with the hedgehogs.
But those are fraudulent pages that 'capture' your search and put it into whatever randomness they're trying to sell you, much like those sites with fake torrent links that only lead you past more advertising after googling something + "torrent".

I'm amazed how many people above here actually think there's any tie to historical records at all. Those pics posted above are generated upon your search.

Selling people fake genealogies and wild stories about how they used to be an aristocratic family is actually a pretty well-known scam that used to be around a few years ago.
In my case at least, our family history was well researched and confirmed from multiple sources, including the fact that the male line of our particular branch is directly descended from the original holder of the coat of arms.

I am immensely ashamed to admit however that the image I used above is the incorrect one. I knew it was French in origin, I knew it was that awful shade of blue, but for some reason could not remember the other details when I looked for a usable image. I don't know how the hell I could have forgotten about the black ram.

Google claims I already have one, but I'm skeptical of how much historical heritage can be behind a coat of arms that's got guns on it.

I'd rather not have a coat of arms, really. I'm not sure a noble heritage is something one should desire.

My father's CoA, according to Google Image Search. I go by a different name, so I guess it doesn't really count. Still. What's up with those lions? They don't look very healthy. Or brave. They look like sickly, cowardly, crap lions. The bottom one looks a bit pissed off, probably because it's so shitty, but the top one jut looks like it wants to go home and take a nap. And what's up with those disembodied boar heads? Those herbs, what're they meant to be? Herbs? Are those eagles floating around those herbs?

The name I go by is so common that there seem to be a few too many Coats of Arms to pick from.

Oh, I'm well aware it's not my family one, my family has been poor from the word `go`. It's just my surname is quite common, I thought somebody would have one/or would have made one up.

And if they were trying to sell me hedgehogs then they failed.

This is my coat of arms.

Having actually visited Ireland, the home of my ancestry, I can attest that this is legit. I should know, it's on my keychain, my nametag I wear for work, and my favorite bottle opener.

You know what? I'm making this my avatar too. Coats of Arms FTW.
