I hate achievements, most of them are "Beat the hardest difficulty (most likely with no continues), up your kill count, collect everything, and complete 100% of the game" - and I say it's BS when people say "it adds replay value" - why should games have a "To-Do-List"? I've ****ed around on games and tried to challenge myself and beat hard difficulties and all that stuff because they were fun to play, not because I had a list of **** that the console deemed important.
Dude this is not the point of this thread, and I on the other hand very much enjoy having somthing to work for it's just your opinon and my opinon they differ no need to fly off the wall

I never go out of my way to try and get achievements, but it's nice enough when I do get them. So the one I'm probably most proud of is "Tactician" in Mass Effect (through the course of a playthrough, you take more damage to your shields than your hit points). I saw that on the list of achievements when I started playing and I was like "yeah, I'm probably never gonna get that one." But there it was when I finished my first playthrough.

I dunno, is that one really easy to get? Mind you, I only recently got an xbox and have only played like 3 games for any considerable length of time.
Depends on the difficulty.
Normal :/

Props on that. I just completed the game and only got the party level and chapter completion achievements.
You have to complete the game twice for the 1000. Most you can possibly get on the first play is 340.

I imagine it's fairly easy, but not ridiculously so. But then, Normal is the only difficulty I never played on.

I'm really confused about One Free Bullet; how do you get the Magnussons to work at the end without shooting them?

Anyway, my personal pride is a few of The Orange Box's; TF2 specifically. 'Team Doctor', which is 'accumulate 25,000 heal points as a Medic' has to be my hardest-earned, though.

The trick is to do it in Episode one. You use the bullet to blow the lock off a door.

I don't know if I'd say it was "really" easy, but the mid-level armor on up has *lots* of shielding, so it's not really a challenge, especially if you also have the "Rich" achievement (and thus the spectre weapons).

By game,

GHII: Kick the Bucket, considering it's ridiculously easy to break.

GHIII: Start a Band Already!, Buy a Guitar Already! (all I did was beat Hard, and then grab a real controller and naviate to the song list), Meet your makers, and the Right Hand of God.

RockBand: Flawless Fretwork, Flawless Groove, and Flawless Bass (no one I know can "sing" flawlessly, so let's just remove that), Groove Technician. Basically, anything that shows I can play the drums on rockband due to the fact that most XBL players buy rockband so they can use the GH guitars to prove how "awesome" they are.

BioShock: Irony (just ridiculously funny), Tonic Collector/Historian (seriously? 30G?), Research PhD (if ever there was a chance to take a funny picture, it was in Ft. Frolic).

About the comment towards achievements being the lame side of XBL, I think they give reason to replay a game. All consoles should have this feature, but restricted to companies who understand the mechanics of it (Neversoft can suck my balls with their achievements for all I care...seriously? I have to beat Through the Fire on EXPERT? AND win 15 online matches WITH A CONTROLLER?!). Plus, if you play through a game once, you're likely to unlock at least a fourth of the acievements to begin with. I'm replaying BioShock for the third time to unlock the Brass Balls and "Beat the game on the hardest difficulty setting", which are essentially one achievement if you turn off the vita-chambers.

Mine would be: "Down boy, down" on COD4. Also just about any on mass effect.

Don't derail this thread with by turning it into a discussion about faulty hardware, thanks.

"Zombie Chopper"-The Orange Box (Half-Life 2)
A wonderfully dificult achivement, the roof-top battle with the fast-zombies near the end was terrifying. Trying to find a decent projectile up there is impossible. But man, it was worth it...

Also "Copletionist" on Castlevainia:SOTN is just too much. 200.6%!? Come-on!

[ACHTUNG! Minor GTA IV spoiler ahead]

I love how the GTA IV devs decided to give you a five point achievment for watching the starting cutscene.

Yes. It was that goddamn long. I EARNED THE POINTS, DAMNIT!
