My Fallout characters had names?

Well fuck me running, I don't remember that. What's the point of them having names when all of the dialog is pre-recorded, so you can be sure that no character will ever actually address you by name. I'm actually playing NV right now and I didn't know he had a name. I don't even think you can introduce yourself by name, and your dialog is just a text blurb.

Skyrim: Leif Haraldsson. Nord ofc, Leif from my middlename and grandfather, and Haraldsson because it's a good ol' Norse name.

Fallout 3/New Vegas: Alex. My first name, not really imaginative.

Oh and in Pokemon I named my character Aidan which meant "fire." Guess what type Pokemon he picked as his starter.
I'm gonna go with water.

I normally have two names in RPGs if it is a modern to future RPG i choose Spygon. If it is based in a fantasy setting i use Mael.

So in Oblivion and Skyrim i used Mael.
Then in Fallout 3 and New vegas i used Spygon.

I usually play create your own character RPGs as close to myself as possible so they are normally neutral individuals who slight lean towards good or bad depending on the situation.

Also i have my 3 rules of gaming

1)If someone tries to kill me i will kill them.
2)I will never surrender my weapons to anybody.
3)Steal from me and i will beat you to a pulp.

Also randomly in oblivion i created an female fire mage called amber who i role played as totally evil and rather unhinged that was abit different

For Skyrim, Oblivion and any other fantasy game that allows it, I make a Drow assassin named Drizzt Do'Urden. I just can't resist.

As for Fallout, my first character in 3 was Alexander, but my favorite is Krug. He smashes things. A lot. His favorite past-time is tracking down behemoths whilst naked and beating them to death with his bare hands.

In New Vegas, Nathan Hale was the name of my first and longest running.

Not only was he an awesome person in history as well as an awesome person in the Resistance series, but it's a damn cool name.

Not in the slightest.

I lost my shit when I saw "German"

If there is a cannon name (like Tir in Suikoden or Link in Zelda) then I'll go with that because I'm kind of there to read someone else's story more than make my own... However when it comes to CRPGs where I really am crafting a new and wholly original character then I'll usually come up with a totally unique name, much in the way I would a child, including trying to find an obscure name the developers likely haven't used (which occasionally bites me on the ass).

Only in an MMO however do I really care. Usually in a CRPG I'll have forgotten my character's name an hour in (except my 1 Int New Vegas character who only did Melee and explosives... Konun, who can't even spell his own name properly, and looked like Arnie at the start of Running Man... Never going to forget that guy.)

For my good Fallout 3 play-through: Evan
For my bad Fallout 3 play-through: Sassafras Sal (she didn't take no guff from no one)
New Vegas: Sassafras Sal (haven't decided whether it's a good or bad playthrough yet.
Skyrim: haven't played yet.

Skyrim
Khajiit: Equinox, he had black fur with white fur on half of his face made it look like Yin and Yang, made his back story that his village was burned down and was trained by the Dark Brotherhood as the greatest assassin of all time.

Nord Female: Mirabelle Highrose, no real reason behind the name I just really liked it

Nord Male: Konahrik (Yes, like the mask) I made his story that he was the ninth priest but before he could receive his mask the rebellion started forcing the other priests into hiding so now he's back to take revenge on everyone that gets in his way. Oh also he's a vampire lord. :p

I try and choose a name I think is suitable for each world...

But then I get bored and name them after people I know, so I can be all "Man, you should have seen yourself! You shouted so hard you threw nine men off of a bridge! Good times!"

Trust me, when your entire squad on X-COM are all named after people you know, you start to have a lot more fun with their successes and a lot more tears over their deaths.

Captcha: skynet is watching

...That's pretty sinister.

I have a character I always use for RP, Firefly the Rogue/Assassin/Infiltrator/Thief
because reasons
mostly it's female since they usually have stats that benefit my play-style, but when stats aren't affected, it's male

except in ME3, I called my Shepard(s):
sushi Shepard the Infiltrator (F)
Sushi Shepard the Vanguard (F)
Firefly Shepard the Infiltrator (F)
Jeff Shepard the Sentinel (M)
Maken Shepard the Vanguard (F)

boy am I creative

Skyrim: My name...is Phil. Phil the Kitty. I was adopted by a senile old Nord woman as a *ahem*, "pet gopher." I was trained in the art of battle by a male Orc who'd taken to wandering and adopted me after the old woman died. He trained me in many things such as the use of shields, how to wear Heavy Armor and feel almost light as a feather, and Waraxes. All for the specific purpose of slaying him in epic axe-to-axe combat. That totally didn't leave me mentally and emotionally scarred at all.

Then I found out I was the Dovahkiin and was like, "Whatevs, I have Mammoths to hunt."

ME: My own name, and then the FemShep I named Katrina, because she was a force of nature.

Pogeymanz: Changes depending on my mood, but usually something that can have a few nicknames, like Daniel->Danny, Dan, Danny-Boy...

Any JRPG: Super-Generic-Anime-Name-GO! Or, if I'm feeling amusing, I either name them Bill, Fred or Frank. "SAVE US, OH GREAT AND MIGHTY FRANK, THE HERO SPOKETH OF IN THE PROPHECY!"

Fallouts: Jeremiah. Jeremiah is a real name for a post-apocalyptic badass. In NV, I have him either wear Merc Adventurer with a red NCR beret or the Suave Gambler and Authority Glasses. In F3, he's always got the Traveling Merchant outfit or w/e it's called with the Merchant Hat (the one with goggles on it). I always imagine them as being badasses who've seen some shit in their time.

I always cast people in my life as both my playable and non-playable characters in RPGs. So yes, all my characters have boring names like Tom, Chris, Rob etc

Currently, my boyfriend is my main pawn in Dragon's Dogma and my mother is a female Breton in Skyrim. Also, I have a good friend starring as one of my characters in Guild Wars 2 and my brother is officially my main character in Fallout New Vegas. I of course let all these people know that I have modelled characters on them in video games because weirdly people love it when you make them the centre of your gaming experience.

Chances are, if you ever meet me I will at some point cast you as one of my characters in the many RPGs I play.

Normally go with my real name, as it stands Jareth is fairly fantasy based, coming from a certain cheesy film with David Bowie :p

But I have been known to name a character or two after some One Piece characters on World of Warcraft ^^

When ever I play a female character with Assassin-type skills I use the name: MURDERELLA (BG 2, Diablo 2, Fallout 3 and Skyrim have all had the pleasure).

If I am going for a Paladin/Good guy type I like to use: BUZZ-KILLINGTON (its a family guy reference so only Fallout NV and Skyrim have had the honor of this one; too bad because BG an Diablo 2 actually had paladins in them).

Sometimes I use the name: BADASSERY, BADASSDUDE or synonyms for PENIS.

Yeah, not serious in my naming, just very silly.

I'm either Alssadar or Alex (As that is my name). If I feel like doing a female run, I adapt the name Alex to its many feminine forms Anyways, I usually just go with my emotions for each the choices, but have set goals (AKA-NCR run, House run, Legion run, Yes Man run, et cetera) that I choose to accomplish. This can effect the outcome of some choices, but I'm usually all "Hey, I want the people of the next ruler to all have good living conditions, and helping people gives more xp."
I always get into good karma. I guess because I can take insults and slide them aside, whatever any asshole says.

However, as the backstabbing asshole I am, I am friendly with all factions until that crucial moment where I have to choose the specific faction to work with. And then I complete all of said faction's missions in quick succession to close it up.
Only, I've finished my NCR and my House run was lost with my hard drive during the final stages of the quests. Current runs are doing the same track, though.

Fun tip: Sneaking a switchblade into the Tops and having high barter can get Benny to pay you money, followed by silently assassinating all of his guards with no one noticing, and then proceeding to use their silenced smg's to kill Benny with no raised suspicion.

I've got to say I'm the absolute worst character namer ever.

I always do the Default option.
Even if that option is "Player 1"
I can't even use my own name because I hate my own name

But the greatest thing ever was the Oblivion strategy guide because it had sample names for all the races in it and I used that page to name all my Oblivion and Skyrim characters.

One thing that I hate about Mass Effect 3 (One of the many things I hate about Mass Effect 3) is that you have to name every multyplayer character you make. And I can't even use Player 1 over and over again because it knows that I'm an uncreative bastard.

I played a lot of the Sims 2, but with my naming disability I had some of the worst fucking sims.
I did a run with a full house of 8 people, all named Steve

I think that every game that expects you to name your character should have a random name generator.
