I know this chat will only get like 3 replies... BECAUSE NO ONE HAS HEARD OF TITAN A freaking E!!
This movie was great with lovable and hateable characters, a wicked cool enemy and a decent story line. Not only that, but for the time it was very well animated and the voice acting was great. So what happened? Why did this movie, who's sexy main character (Akima, not Cale you... people) seem to vanish! Why did the dredge, who were cooler than the antarctic, not get the attention they deserved. And it had a good message!!!

what happened people! What was your favourite part of the movie, when did you see it, who was you (least or most) favorite character.

'Kay.... way more people than i have ever imagined have seen it. I gotta hang with you people, rather than my lame friends up here!

I remember watching it. I also remember that it wasn't that good when they were showing off the movie. Was a big disappointment. The worst part is that it was made by Don Bluth the guy from American Tale, Land Before Time and Secret of Nihm....So double the disappointment.

Are you asking why there's no fan art or cult following or something? If that's what you're trying to say then I guess it's because you're not looking hard enough. A quick search on deviantart [http://www.deviantart.com/#order=9&q=Titan+AE] got me over 500 items. I will agree that it's an awesome movie though. I love that cockroach chef guy.

I love that movie. I am always making references to it. My fav quote would have to be:

Akima - "So, what are you going to name the planet?"
Cale - "Bob"
Akima - "You can't name a planet Bob!"
Cale - "Sure I can, I just did."

That movie will always have a special place in my movie collection. I want to watch it again now.
As for what happened to it, I would say the same thing that happens to every movie that was not a massive hit.

Of course it had a great message, but I seem to recall that the movie didn't really have that much in terms of advertising. I've seen it multiple times, and the last time was about two years ago. My favorite character was Captain Korso. He was great. Even though he betrayed Cale, he more than made up for it. That particular moment was also my favorite part of the movie.

There is only one thing I kind of hold against your post. The movie can still be considered well-animated.

[small]I wish I actually owned the movie. Right now, I just hope to see it on the regular weekend FOX network free time (when they usually show moderately obscure movies).[/small]

you are right good sir. i should have mentioned that. and i agree, it is well animated even by today's standards. Which makes me wonder all the more why it didn't do really really well.

Dammit, that was a great film, and I'll have to dig it up some time...
Not sure what's my favourite part. I love the whole damn thing.

I loved that film! My parents thought it was boring so they never bought it, but I wish I could see it again.

It bombed.

I enjoyed it, but the Dredge really were horrible villains. Not to mention their animation didn't mesh with the rest of the movie at all.

Man. I barely remember that film. Can't even remember if I liked it, but I definitely did watch it. Might have to track it down and watch it again.

I remember seeing the ad for it when it came out and thinking 'I MUST see this movie!' and then I totally didn't see this movie because I couldn't convince anyone to drive me to the cinema. Apart from that one advertisement, I never really heard of it after.....

However, browsing through HMV a year back, I came across and purchased it to see what it was like. I think if I had watched it when I was younger, it would have been in my top 10 films now. However watching it as an adult, it was a little disappointing for me. I think I had bigged it up so much in my head that it was never going to quite live up to expectations for me.

I thought the dredge were awesome, but could have been a little easier on the eyes, or red instead of blue because they were EVILLLLL. Didn't really have a favourite character, but my favourite bit was probably when they first find the Titan. I think I like the idea of abandoned/lost technology being rediscovered, plus I had spent so long imagining what the ship looked like that I was glad to finally see it. (I thought it was going to be a lil' more streamlined!)

Went the way most movies with a good closed story line go. I actually prefer that noone tried to come up with a sequel.

Umm... the main reason that so few seem to remember this movie is because it was shit. And not just your ordinary kind of shit, it was the kind of shit you want to forget by any means necessary.

Right, no one will ever remember Titan AE, which I loved and actually saw in theaters. Sure. To be honest, I liked the Drej. They be cool. They be evidence of Hollywood picking into my brains, but it's all good.
