If 'bros' who like My Little Pony are bornies, what's a girl or woman who likes MLP called? Also, why is there a brony phenomenon and not a female version?

I kid. I kid. Promise.

Another thing: do bronies actually like MLP on average? Or is it more of a joke?

They're still called bronies.

There are some who will call a female brony a "pegasis", but no. Just no.

But brony is all... bro-like. Bro is short for brother, after all. If anything, I guess they should be known as a sisony and sissies... Actually, pegasis is better >_>

Pretty much everyone in the fandom accept that brony is gender neutral. If you want to call yourself a pegasister, go ahead, but personally I think it's silly. Why do we even need names? I'd rather just call myself a "fan of MLP:FiM" than giving myself a label.

Whatever they want to call themselves. It's not set in stone, after all. Does that constitute a /thread tag? No matter.

/thread

EDIT (cos I'm worried about low content): That said, I've only ever seen Brony used in a male context, but like I said above, it's not set in stone I believe. Female fans call themselves whatever they want. Now it is definitely:

I'm going to quote the Bro Code on this one:

Article 22: There is no law that prohibits a woman from being a bro.

Pegasister is fine if you prefer it, but I think Brony works for everyone.

But it's so... silly. How can a female be a bro(ther)? I won't accept it!

Maybe "bro" is becoming a gender neutral term. Kinda like the word "guy".

There are bonds that transcend all physical characteristics--bro-hood is one of them. Clearly, you have not experienced the beauty of the bond of bro.

I call them attention whores, because they just HAVE to remind you they are MLP FANS and GURLS every 2 fucking seconds I mean seriously cant you just shut the fuck up about this sh-

*Cough*

Maybe it just seems that way though. Maybe most of them are all right, you just dont realize they are bronies because they dont fucking spend every damn second of their miserable existence screaming at you about it.
Like everything, it's just a vocal minority. Take Christianity for example; ninety nine percent of Christians just do their thing, go about their life and you never hear from them, but then there's that other one percent--the loud one percent--that make everyone look bad. Same with gay people; you've got your average gay person walking down the street on their way to work and you wouldn't even know they're gay (I mean, what does "gay" look like?), but then that pesky loud minority raises their voice and suddenly "all" gay people are loud, flamboyant and in your face.

Exactly. It isn't "Bro" as in "brother", it's "Bro" as in "friend". Same word, different meaning.

I watched one episode (or rather, part of one episode). Seemed alright. Kind of weird voice acting, but alright.

I must try again. This cult of pony intrigues me.

Yeah. I've seen people referring to the womens as "that guy" or "you guys". And "dude" is kinda gender neutral, too.
Maybe I just live in a weird part of the world, but words like those are words you'd think are gender exclusive sometimes aren't.

Oh yeah, I guess... I do actually sometimes call my mum "dude," lolol.

Fans isn't as cool and unique as bronies. Once again women get the short straw and men get treated specially.

*sigh*

(Hopefully obvious sarcasm was obvious.)

I'll just leave this here:

And yes, people actually do like the show. Is it great art? Probably not. What it is is fun. The world can be a dark, grim, horrible place sometimes, and occasionally it's nice to take a break by watching brightly colored cartoon ponies. It doesn't hurt that for a cartoon aimed at kids, it doesn't insult the viewer's intelligence. It actually tries to be good and not just a merchandising vehicle.

Whoa whoa whoa, the bond of bro is timeless--MLP didn't start it. By all means try out MLP, just don't conflate MLP with the origins of "bro."
