Title pretty much says it all. For whatever reason, whether it be story, or lack of room for gameplay innovation, do you have a beloved gaming franchise that you hope doesn't continue?

For me, it would have to be inFAMOUS. The second game wrapped things up nicely, and with the UGC, there really isn't any need for another game. If they really want to introduce a few new powers, that can be done through DLC.

I suppose a second one would be the Sly Cooper series. I know it's already continuing, but I'd rather it didn't. As excited as I am at the prospect of another Sly game, I really think the 3rd game wrapped things up in a way that doesn't need continuation

Team Fortress 2. Because there's nowhere to go now that everyone's fully devoted to TF2, and what would be the point of a third game, with all the free stuff?

So, both Sucker Punch games, eh?

I'd rather inFamous not continue after 2. Didn't like the first game all that much, but inFamous 2 was very, very fun with a really satisfying conclusion. I'd rather them not continue it.

As for Sly Cooper, I dunno. I wouldn't mind seeing another Sly Cooper game.

Max Payne. The new recent screen shots have me sceptical. If they werent titled I wouldnt know it was Max and thats never a good sign in a third installment.

The Gothic series. It was great up till 3. Then the ass holes dumbed the shit out of it and made Gothic 4 so easy and watered down a baby could play it. I want it to end before it gets worse.

InFamous yes because you can't just pick one ending and go with it. Any new entry would have to follow both endings.

MGS (with Solid Snake), just please, stop....

GOW3 (with Kratos as the protagonist), I have an idea of how they can continue the series (or at least make one more game) but Kratos can't be the protagonist.

Basically, you will play GOW4 as Kratos's brother. How, you might ask? Well remember, after letting all hell break loose (literally) in GOW3, you allowed all the souls to escape. The main plot in my GOW4 would center around Hades controlling Kratos's body and using him as a vessel to reanimate the Gods but with him as the 'head' God. Remeber how you absorbed Hades's soul early in the game? Well after sabbing yourself with the sword of the Gods, Kratos weakens himself enough for Hades (who we will assume still has some power over his own soul that is trapped in Kratos) to become the dominant persona in Kratos. Gaia, with little power left, restores Kratos's brother (can't remember his name) and gives him the task of freeing Kratos from Hades's control.

The gameplay will actually differ this time because of the different protagonist, and we get to learn more about Kratos's brother. You basically go through the game fighting the reanimated Gods altered by Hades until you reach the final boss, Hades (as Kratos). I think the plot makes sense.... o_O

Portal. It's brilliant, it's funny, it's mysterious, let's leave it there while it's still all of those things. By all means, continue with the co-op dlc. The one that released in September was hilarious.

Portal. The games are some of the best I've ever played, but I think I'd prefer if the series ended before it became tired and bland.

Kane & Lynch. I love it, but they'd have to contrive some reason they'd survive more than five seconds after hi-jacking a plane and being both the USA's and China's most wanted.

Honestly, none. Even old or tired franchises can come back and feel fresh as Tomb Raider may ultimately prove.

If I had to choose I'd really go with the OP with inFamous. Even then I'd like to see the story continue based on the 'evil' story ending.

I wouldn't be opposed to the Uncharted series coming to an end after one more game. Or at least conclude the story as far as these characters are concerned.

All of them? Is that an answer?

Franchises are made to make money and are RARLY inovative in any way. Look at this dibaocle of COD and battlefield.

Im gonna go with Zelda. In the beginning (with the NES) it was a great style of adventure and you got to save the princess and Hyrule as well as put down Gannon. Then the second one was a fitting sequel and promptly ended the threat of the godlike wizard. Then there was the Prequell: A link to the past which was fitting for what had already been established. Finally there was Links awakening which again was a sequel with Link setting sail to train himself in case more powerful threats to hyrule appeared.

Then we got Ocarina of time which was basicly a reboot and began a long line of reboots that had little value to the series. Now Im not saying OoT was bad, it just wasnt Zelda to me. I would have been much more happy if it was under a different title and the games continued with the adventures of Link but I think we all know what a pipe dream that is at this point

For me, the Zelda series ended with Links awakening and any zelda game past that has only been a cash grab rather then a continued Hero's journey
