I used to not want anything to do with JRPGs and turned based combat... then I bought Final Fantasy VII... I know I'm only 2 hours into it, but I'm actually having a lot of fun. It's convinced me to look into more games like the White Knight Chronicles and that other game that Level 5 is making.

I'm not fully converted yet, but I'm easing up a bit on fighting games. I used to say all of them except Smash. Bros were overly complicated and pretty much just button mashers. I still think they're overly complicated sometimes, but after playing a couple of Capcom VS. games I'm finally starting to get the hang of how combo's are performed. I have fun when playing against the computer, but as soon as I go online it reminds me of why I used to hate these so much.

I still think they need better tutorials that actively explains how to perform combos and what certain things mean or do. And a note to FAQ writers: When you're trying to appeal to beginners you NEED to go into more detail about what some of this stuff means. It's not enough to simply tell us what the abbreviation of QCF is, you need to tell us exactly what that means to do on the controller. It seems like a no-brainer to a lot of you, but to newcomers this stuff is hieroglyphics.

So thank you Tatsunoko vs. Capcom for actually showing a picture of it. You could still use to be more specific at times. I'm still not 100% sure what the '1' symbol is for in some of these combo listings, and I had no idea I was supposed to press two attack buttons at once for Hyper Combos. Normally when you want me to press two buttons at once you show me something like 'L+M'
so why would I think 'QFC, Attack Attack' means to press two buttons at once? I was tapping them separately for ages until I finally found a good website for newbs.

I hated them I hated everything about them.
Now I can't get enough of them, and I don't even know why.

Shooter Games, but now I'm enjoying them thanks to Halo 3 and COD WaW, but not Modern Warfare 2

Hey, same here. I used to not be a fan of FPS, but thanks to the Modern Warfare franchise, Bioshock, and Fallout 3, I'm enjoying some FPS now. Looking forward to Halo:Reach.
I add my cap to this type of story. I use to not like FPSes, but then I discovered that could kick ass in them. And I've been dominating my friends, and losing to everyone else online ever since.

RPG's, I wouldn't say I hated them, I just had never played very many and they didn't seems like my type of game. I remember making fun of my friend when I saw him playing Morrowind, then he let me play for a bit and explained how the game worked and that's when I fell in love with the genre.

Like a lot of people in here I didn't like FPS back during the quake and then the halo era, but then when COD4 came out I really got into it.

Was never a fan of JRPG's save Pokemon back in the day. Now I find myself enjoying the simplicity of combat but the complexity of character modification. Really liked Lost Odyssey and i didn't mind the hours a i sunk into going through the menu's not that I think there shouldnt be a way to do it better.

Since then I've made an effort to try other JRPG's... plan on buying Tales of Vesperia soon as i find a copy that isn't going to cost me 90 bucks to purchase and ship where i live.
