Eat less, eat better, do cardio - stuff like swimming and running. There's no use in doing sit ups and whatever else since they only build muscle, not get rid of fat. Drinking lots of water helps tone you too.

Change portions of the food you eat, exercise gradually more and more- switching between cardiovascular and strength building workouts during so, preferably. And of course, have some patience cos' it will take awhile to bring about lasting changes in your weight, not to mention to be proactive and keep it that way.

I would also remind you that weight itself is not important, fitness and health are paramount. Don't get obsessed with numbers.

Find healthy foods that you like, it may take a while but it's worth it. A big problem for people who diet is that they change their eating habits for the better then when they move off the diet, they go back to eating unhealthy. Eating an earlier dinner helps. If you're a big regular soda drinker, you can cut back a lot by not drinking soda.

Also, building muscle helps when you're trying to lose weight because muscle is a lot harder to break down than fat. You may think you're gaining weight when you work out but you're actually transferring fat into muscle. Don't lose hope if you work out and that happens.

put it in a hard to find area, then try to get your mind off it for a couple days. In no time, you'll have lost it GOOD.

Fact #1: There's no such thing as "spot reducing" (that is to say, losing only belly fat). Your body stores fat a certain way (usually in the gut on men and in the hips and thighs on women, but not always) and oftentimes the fat you want gone is the last to go, which frustrates many a dieter.

Fact #2: Carbohydrates and protein have four calories per gram, fat has nine calories per gram, and no matter what fad diet you go on, this fact does not change. Cutting out processed food is good not because processed food is inherently evil but because it often contains "stealth calories" (the high-fructose corn syrup that is in everything these days is often the culprit. Even most mass-market breads contain it!)

Fact #3: That having been said, there is such a thing as "satiety", which basically means when the body says "OK, I've had enough". Whole grains and high-protein lean meats like chicken breast are very high on this list and ultimately mean that you'll eat fewer calories before feeling full. The worst food for this? You guessed it...processed mass-market white flour, refined sugar, and all the other crap most people eat.

Fact #4: Muscle is 35 times more metabolically active than fat. So lift weights. Even if you don't "bulk up", you'll turn your body into a furnace. Nice side effect of this? Metabolic activity throws off a lot of heat, which means it's a lot easier to talk a girl into cuddling you naked because you can keep her warm under that blanket. You're welcome.

Fact #5: Body weight doesn't just assume a constant downward trend once you start losing weight---on any given day you could be more or less hydrated, for example. But if you want to feel better about your weight? Weigh yourself first thing in the morning, after you pee/crap and before you shower, when your body is at its lightest. Then eat breakfast. Because your metabolism matters.

Don't eat.
I guess this would be harder for people who actually get hungry, but maybe you could smoke or drink a lot of water every time you feel hungry.
Probably the least healthy option possible. Eats up muscle mass more than fat. Really, you're better off exercising.

Alternatively, eat, but eat only a certain amount, and at specific times.
Get six or so equal sized meals and space them evenly throughout the day. Make sure they add up in calories to your basal metabolic rate, minus about three hundred. This will speed up your metabolism (which, ultimately, does little difference, but whatever), and you'll lose weight without any real effort.
This one takes much longer. Process of years rather than months, if you're trying to drop a huge lot of weight.

Ah, also, you can't lose bodyfat in one specific area. It has to be all or nothing, I'm afraid.

First and foremost, don't obsess over weight loss. Doing so will only serve to make you impatient, ultimately resulting in failure. Take it one day at a time.

Walk every day. If an hour-long walk seems too daunting, break it down into smaller sessions. Three twenty-minute walks are no less effective. For me, it helps to think of exercise in a contiguous manner. For example, you can think of your day's exercise as starting from scratch, or as I prefer it, you can think of it as continuing your mileage from days past.

Do not engage in distracted eating. In other words, if you're eating, then that's all you should really be doing. It's fine to socialize with family at the dinner table, but watching TV, for example, is a major pitfall that most often leads to mindless eating.

Cut liquid calories. Drink soda? Save it for special occasions. Juice should only be consumed in moderation. For the most part, you should be drinking water.

Chew your food slowly and drink water in between bites. You'll feel full faster.

Don't serve yourself at the table. Fill a plate at the counter and save the leftovers for later. If you still feel tempted to grab more, just keep in mind that each successive serving of food is going to taste less satisfying than the last.

Use smaller plates. Doing so will prevent your eyes from dictating your appetite.

Don't stay up too late. Sleep well.

Finally, it is imperative that you measure out your servings. A food scale is very helpful to this end.

Edit: You need to figure out how many calories you burn in a day. Depending on your current weight, you may be able to lose up to two pounds a week. In order to meet such a weekly weight loss goal, it would be necessary for you to cut 1000 calories out of your diet. If that amount is too high for you given your current weight (message me and I can find an estimate for you), then cutting 500 calories would yield a loss of one pound a week and so on and so forth.

During the final stretch of my senior year in high school I wanted to lose weight for the graduation ceremony so I started on a diet. I would eat one meal or less going some days where I wouldn't eat at all. Whenever I got hungry I would just chew gum and drink water. That paired with constant exercise, walking 4 hours a day plus weight training for an hour every morning, add in 75 push ups every night and I lost 35 pounds in 3 weeks... It takes a lot of work. Its painful, not at all healthy and I wouldn't recommended it too anyone but it does work.

What you did is actually quite dangerous. It is not safe to lose more than two pounds in any given week. Losing more than that is perilous because the weight lost often consists not of fat, but of muscle. Your heart is a muscle, hence the risk of heart damage.

The next time you feel you are starving, simply wait a while. Hunger passes with meal times, psychologically speaking. When you are next hungry, if all goes well, you will not eat as much, either consciously or accidentally.

Simple, burn more calories than you take in. Diet pills are worthless when they require diet and excersize to be effective (which would work without the pills).

Drink less soda, avoid fast food, eat more fruits and vegies, and do some excersizes every now and then. Common sense is usually the best sense. Losing weight is far from complicated after all.

It can also depend on your body type. I cannot lose weight, I've tried and everything I did made me gain weight (going to the gym twice a week, running everyday, eating healthy) not to mention the exorcise made me feel like shit. So I said screw it sat on my ass all day eating potato chips for a meal and lost more weight and felt better.

Not saying it will work for you though, I just seem to be an anomaly.

Eat less, eat less crap, fidget.

I kid you not - I've lost 2 stone in the past 2 months without any extreme exercise. All I've done was cut out "snacks" and quick-fix shit like pizzas (both ordered and microwavable), lumps of sugar like donuts or chocolate, etc.

Eating less is also important - Smaller meals, but more of them. Allows your body to digest properly.

Muscle will burn through fat quickly, so this isn't much of an option if you're scrawny - Thankfully, I'm muscular, just out-of-shape from a few years of absolute laziness. If you cut down on intake by about 30-40%, you'll lose a surprising amount of fat fairly quick.

The other thing to do is fidget. Drum with your feet when sitting, flex your arm a bit, wiggle using your back muscles, etc. Idle stuff. It won't burn as much as proper exercise, but it'll add up quickly, especially if you're constantly sat around at the computer doing work like I am.
