No time for pleasure reading though...
That sounds kind of sad. I mean, shouldn't it all be pleasure reading? Otherwise, the next few years are going to be really tough...
Oh don't worry, it's pleasurable to be reading them, otherwise I wouldn't be an english major. I'd have died my freshman year under the workload. I wouldn't have even made it to Beowulf. I meant that I don't have any free time to read books of my own choosing. Holocaust Lit has 14 books that we'll be reading this semester and this is my last semester of college, so after this I can read all the books of my own choosing that I want! Still, it's an excellent education. Holocaust Lit even has us reading the comic Maus. I'm looking forward to it as much as anyone can for such a sad and depressing subject.

I admit it though, I have a lot of Terry Pratchett and Robert Jordan on my shelf. They are next to my Norton Anthologies of Shakespeare, American Literature, and British Literature Before the 1800s and After 1800s. I'm sure more than a few authors in those volumes are rolling in their graves(and more than a few going roflmao... They can forget their sensibilities now that they're dead). Also... I've run out of bookshelves... All my Star Wars books are sitting in a box in the hallway as I have no room for them. I have too many books and I don't have the heart to get rid of any of them.

Sad panda.

Seeing as how I'm finishing my undergrad, I happen to be reading close to five or six books right now, but the most interesting one is Ethnic Options: Choosing Identities in America by Mary C. Waters. Pretty good so far.

"American Gods" by Neil Gaiman
Ooooh. Some of the short stories in that are great. And creepy. But mostly great.

It can feel a bit... well, cheap. Like not even trying to be literature, just a story, particularly in the early stages of the main plot. But the short stories make up for it.
I agree, some of them are REALLY bizarre. But, overall, I'm really enjoying the book and I'm well over half way done with it now. :)

You're right though, the short stories really are something to look forward to.
