You know that moment where you finally get to play a highly talked about game and all you can think is 'No this can't be the unmissable, 10/10 game that everyone has been talking about. I hope i'm playing the wrong game.' Well, what's your worst one. Once again, mine is Gears of War. Although it was a while ago, F.E.A.R. was pretty god damn dissapointing as well.
dude, you really didnt like gears of war did you? :)
i loved it, liked #2 even more. The trick to enjoying GoW is to stop trying to find a compelling storyline, turn off your brain and enjoy as you blast the fuck out of some alien-dinosaur thingies

In response to the topic, mine would be RE5, all the reviews from the big names said it would be orgasmic

Same... I thought resi 5 was a bad imitation of the 4th.
It's pretty sad that they mucked it up as bad as they did.

I would have to go with FF7. It's so bad that it rivals barbie horse adventure.
Come on man! How could you not love Barbie Horse Adventures?
Seriously! I won't have anyone knocking Barbie Horse Adventures in here.

Back on topic, I was disappointed by Halo 3.

Zelda Twilight Princess.

Never liked the Zelda games. Never liked 'em. Everyone told me that this would be the one to change my opinion and make me love the series. McNope, it was just as boring as the other ones for me.

I've never played a game hyped to me by someone else that I didn't enjoy (I don't talk to very many people).

All of my "Did I play the same game" moments have been wondering why a game was so hated.

Strangley, i dont really have one.

Though Spider-man 3 was a collossal dissappointment, due to the fact spidey 2 was actually ok.

Oh, and the force unleashed was ok but not the second coming that we were promised. D:

I think my moment like this was with Fable1 and 2, I was so excited about it being this huge open world game that you could go anywhere and do anything in, then I sat down to play it and get railroaded from one area to the next, and nothing you do really seems to have that much of an effect on anything else.

And the sad thing is that I think if they had just left off the annoying partner part, the game would have been alright. Or at least given you the option to play without Sheva at all. I know they think coop is great and everything, but not everyone has the ability/desire to play coop. And RE5 is not the type of game I would really want to play with a complete stranger. In some areas on the hardest difficulty setting, it is virtually unplayable unless you have a human partner. That is the most disappointing thing about this game.

Starcraft. I gave it a solid few hours, before realizing that it sucked. Much like every RTS, imo. If that's the best, then the genre is not for me.

If they come out with some dlc that removes sheva, i'll buy it.

GTA III-IV, Oblivion, Halo in any form, Guitar Hero III (after the first 2 being so awesome), Bioshock, and basically any other game that got tons of hype before I was ever exposed to it. Some of these games are still good games, but the hype machine got me expecting way too much, so I was seriously let down. Timesplitters is a series that came out of a random recommendation from a guy in Japan for me and turned out to be one of my favorite shooters ever.

Hmm, interesting... do you mind if I ask which JRPG's you really like? I'm not trying to troll, much as I love FF7 I know it's really not for everyone. Which JRPG's do you consider to not have a clichéd plot? I acknowledge FF7's plot is pretty over the top, but I think it has enough intricacy and interest to raise it well above most of its rivals.
I don't really mind clichés as long as they are well executed and in my opinion, they weren't well executed in FF7. I mainly added that I found it clichéd because everyone was saying it was totally original and so not the same game I was playing.

All I really care about is well balanced and likeable characters, shortly followed by an interesting or original battle/overworld mechanic.

Favourite jRPGs include:- Symphonia, TWEWY, Golden Sun, Fire Emblem, Disgaea and FF9.

saints row 2 but that could be because i played the pc version ugh
What's wrong with the PC Version? I love it...
The driving is horrendous. It feels like you control an ice-skating rhinoceros. The car turns 90 degrees with the slightest tap.
And let's not forget the horrible lag while driving.
But nonetheless, it's an awesome game. If Volition could fix the driving, it would be perfect.

fallout 3. though i think i'm gonna give it another chance cos i don't think i played it for the many hours necessary for it to become interesting.
I felt the same when I started off, but then I lowered the difficulty for a bit.

Try that.
