What's Bioshock like?

bioshock is good, simple, fun but ultimately short. play it by all means but don't expect much from number 2

i got it for £4 and only ever played two hours of it. Half life 2 is just so much better than it i played that instead.

It's an easy game provided you don't play on hard mode. You shouldn't have much trouble so get on and play it.

i honestly can't reccommend this game at all.

1. It's agonisingly slow
2. The graphics are awful (I have an excellent pc naturally or I wouldn't comment, but all the sparkly crap on the screen gets to me)
3. None of the weapons pack a punch
4. The story's excellent for the first 2/3 of the game but then peters out in a kind of metaphorical overextended farting noise of bulls**t dialogue and characterless behaviour.
5. That bloody patronising arrow
6. the graphics again (everything looks like its been made out of wax, covered in a metallic gloss and then melted)

its the best game ive played in a very long time; so what if its linear? its so good it doesn't need to be open ended.

To me, linear is a good thing. When I hear "open ended" it usually means, "run around forever trying to figure out where to go". I want nothing to do with that crap. I loved COD4 because it had a compass telling me where to go.

I'll give Bioshock a try after I feel like I've "finished" COD4 multiplayer.

Bioshock is largely linear, and has an objective arrow.. The arrow sometimes isn't clear exactly what elevation you need to go, but it's pretty clear where you need to go.

I only got lost a couple times in the whole game.

The shotgun packs quite a punch, the faster shooting should always be the first upgrade, followed by the stronger shot.

And that is exactly the problem: even on the hardest difficulty you need nothing more than your fully upgraded shotgun and your pisotl or later the crossbow.
No plasmids, no tonics, just the shotgun and a long range support.
Because of this I hope for stronger elemental weaknesses of the Splicers in Bioshock2

The gameplay itself is quite dull. Even the "puzzles" are obvious most of the time, and the combat just feels sloppy. It is a game you play for the atmosphere more then anything else. The gameplay is tolerable, but if atmosphere is not something you enjoy, get something else.

Bioshock is one of the easiest games ever created. If you can't beat it, you truly suck.

I was able to beat the game the first time without getting lost, so you should not have a problem. You can always turn on the guiding arrow if you get stuck.

Anyways, I would recommend the game. I enjoy it a lot. It's a little bit to easy on the normal difficulty though. That's mostly due to the Vita chambers preventing you from dying. I'm playing through it again without using Vita chambers so that game will be a bigger challenge. I'm also playing on hard to give the game more challenge. Big Daddies are ridiculous on Hard.

Bioshock is a great game. Don't fret, I found it on the easier side, you won't have any problems finding your way round or what to do next.

isn't it nice to talk to other adults about things that we both enjoy? i set out my reasons for not liking the game and if you don't agree then by all means form your own opinions, computer games are hugely subjective. i will, however, explain my reasons more carefully so that you can appreciate my points a little better. who knows, people may agree
