Technically if zombies were real (new age zombies i.e virus) then you should react as though yo were alive although some bodily functions lose control like waste removal and hunger.

Old zombies( animated corpses) do whatever person brought them back to life.

But to respond to your question if new age then zombification.
If old then death.

If you don't mind manga, read this [http://www.mangafox.com/manga/sankarea/]. I'm sure they'll go quite in debt about all kinds of zombie stuff.

I imagine you won't feel anything, as you wouldn't really be there. Although, some Zombies hold a little bit of their former personality, so you might be able to be aware of what's going on. I'm not really sure.

As any other similar piece of fiction: Depends on the cannon. This tends to be a universal condition to all fiction related questions... Because fiction is what you want it to be...

- If you're thinking of the "Dead bodies reanimated through magic/parasites" type, then it's the same. You're essentially dead. Your body's basically a puppet, but you're dead.

- If you're thinking about the "You're actually still alive and aware, but being controlled through magic/parasites", then I'd say so, since you can't really control your actions but are forced to watch them. Essentially being locked in your own mind. I'd say one of the very few things worse than dying is living as a vegetable stuck in your own head, with no control over any kind of actions, no matter what.

- If you're thinking about L4D/28 weeks later "zombies", which are basically people infected with rabies-like viruses that drive them into a zombie-like state, then yes, it might be worse. Depends on how "aware" the person in question is.

...etc. It depends on the "rules" defined by the cannon.

All of the various zombie scenarios I can think of suggest that you'd either be dead and your corpse is being used by some voodoo priest somewhere, or you have no real conscious thought anymore, simply a consuming anger.
So, unless you're some sadist pretending to be a zombie just to get to bite, scratch, and generally assault people, being a zombie is essentially the same thing as being dead.

Unless it's some kind of brain parasite, and you can still see what you're doing, but have no control, that would be worse. Y'know, like in the only decent bit in 'The flood' (the novel that was directly based on Halo:CE's campaign...)

Being a zombie is an excellent and fun experience. It is nice. Join us. Join us. Become one with the horde. Join us. Join usohGODmAkEiTsToPgetoutofmyheadnOoO *ahem* Join us! It's really nice to be a zombie, so open up the barricades and just let us infect you.

Yeah, I agree with the theory that you don't have control over the zombie, but can still see what it's doing. This would probably be most interesting for video games, rather than instantly going to a "game over" screen, so yeah.

Another zombie question from good old zombie joe.
While I was going home in the car today, I asked my brother what is worse, being a zombie, or being dead. Being a zombie expert (from reading zombie survivor guide and WWZ) he said death was better. So I thought of what it must be like to be a zombie.

From what I read in ZSG, zombifacation is terrible. You suffer a slow and painful death, then become a zombie.

But I have two ideas for what it's like to be a zombie.

1. When you die, you don't "really" come back. Whatever happens to you after death will happen normaly, wether you go to the afterlife or just die. But your body will take a mind of its own, and kill just because it can.

2.You die, and soon your brain turns back on, so you see everything that happens. You don't object, fight, or even think about it. You just see it, and do it. So there is no regret, or feeling left.

WHAT DO YOU THINK?

ps I know zombies are not real, but if they were.
According to science, there a organism that induce suicidal behavior in ant because the parasite breading grown is a sheep stomach. So, the parasite force the ant to climb on the top of a leaf or grass and wait there to be eaten by a sheep. If I go with that, you will be conscious but wont be controlling your own action.

I reckon being a zombie would just be like being extremly drunk, you wouldn't be able to feel anything or make rational decisions...

On a mental level, its not you.

You died and have moved on, but your body is reactivated in a Instinct Survival mode.

So after you die you wouldn't feel anything as its just your Body that's the zombie now.
That's what I figure. In terms of the 8 circuit model of consciousness, you revert to the basic Biosurvival Circuit.
It's like being an amoeba or a Glenn Beck fan.

basically, there both the same. When zombification occurs your soul and or consciencness still leaves the body, so lets just say you beleive in an afterlife, you will be befor-mentioned afterlife, however the only difference is that your body will remain on earth, still animated (but dead) were the human brain will revert back to natural instinct.

Yea, the only thing your mind would be hotwired to compute is to feed and survive.

I agree that its not unlike an Amoeba, ignoring the Glenn Beck crack though...

Yeah. Remember how zombies and Combine soldiers will keep fighting in Half-Life 2 even after you die, and you can choose to keep watching? It's like that, except the camera is moving around as you attack.

I was pretty close to zombification...
I stayed up for 3 days straight. At that point, i was incoherent, and no longer "sentient". I was hungry, but didn't care what I could eat as long as I could eat it...I passed out in front the fridge.

the undead kind: "yourself" would not exist and your body would act like that of a primitive animal, only doing what it can to survive

the infected kind: "you" may have a vague idea of what your doing but most likely this infection would cause you to fly into a rage at the slightest sight of someone who is not infected, either sensing them by smell or some other such stuff. "you" wouldnt really live normally, just stumbling about the streets till you see someone to beat to death/eat and chase them like a maniac
