The Resident Evil films. Sure, they aren't loyal to the games at all but they are a fun watch.

I Am Legend is another film that I liked that others hated, but even I must admit they were kinda lazy with the CGI.
Does anyone actually want the movies to be loyal to the games?

Because it popped up recently, I really like Silent Hill.
I have to agree with that one. If you completely ignore it's based on the series, it was actually a decent movie.

I like Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within.

People rage about how it has nothing to do with Final Fantasy, how it almost destroyed Square or how the "Digital Actors" were overhyped, and how the plot has weird plot device stuff going on, aaaand...they are right.

Still, i like it. The Characters may ACT wooden, but they are kinda sympathetic, it has a great mood going on, a predictable but still engaging plot and visually, it's mind blowing.

Not exactly from a technical standpoint mindblowing, at least nowadays, but it has awesome art direction, design, and many many cool moments that you want to make a wallpaper of.

So yeah, in the end i mostly like it because it looks good, but since people like Michael Bay exist i don't really feel too bad about liking this little big disappointment.
I sorta agree with you.

I really liked the concept of the story: Residual life-force of an alien race trapped on Earth and the main character having some of this life-force encapsulated in her chest. I also really liked the dream sequence. Plus, it was the first DVD I ever bought and at the time it felt the perfect introduction to this new video-medium. Still, I can stil understand why people might dislike it.

Also, Howard the Duck.

I guess a lot of it is nostalgia, but I can't help adoring this movie. If only for the awesome soundtrack.

I like Arnold Schwarzenegger's less serious films, especially Jingle All The Way. I mean, he fights The Big Show!

Southland Tales. It was the very poorly recieved second movie by the director of Donnie Darko. I love Southland Tales, I don't think it's as bad as everyone makes it out to be. And a lot of my friends do like to remind me of how bad they think it is on a regular basis.
This may sound like an attack but I fucking hate Southland Tales, whenever anyone asks me what the worst film I have ever seen is thats my go to answer.
That's not an attack, you're entitled to your opinion, hate it as much as you like. I'd like to know why you don't like it though. Any time a friend says they hate it, they just say they hate it and leave it at that.
Well hopefully this doesn't turn into a crazy rant but I really dislike Richard Kelly as a director. I feel he is too full of himself and find his own ideas and doesn't know when to hold back. For evidence of this watch the studio cut of Donnie Darko vs his director's cut its terrible in comparison (although I'm not too crazy about Donnie Darko to begin with)

Southland Tales is such a masturbatory film, he's dying to show you how much he knows about all the various religious ideas he has.(With that terrible scene at the end where the rock has all those religious symbols tatooted on his back).

The other thing that really makes me hate this movie is his direction of the actors. I like The Rock a lot because of the charisma he brings to the screen so its obvious that in this film he and the other characters are intentionally acting like cardboard cutouts. This would have been fine if there was any connection between the way they were acting and the story at all but it wasn't its just another level of richard kelly's weird for the sake of weird mentality.

I really feel like the film is pretentious and its trying to outsmart the audience, not because it is an intellectual film but because its trying to pile up the weirdness. After watching The Box I really feel that that is his M.O.

Van Helsing, Zoom, the losers, Prince of persia, the new star wars trilogy, indiana jones 4, the third pirates of the caribean, and the matrix sequals
i look for the good in everything and hardly pay attention to the bad
The Losers was actually pretty good, I was surprised.

Starship Troopers. I would be put to death if I mentioned it in certain circles.

Well you make a lot of good points, and I agree with most of them. I admit that Southland Tales has such poor acting and the story is pretentious and too smart for its own good, but despite that, I just love this movie, and I can't exactly figure why. I guess I love it because I have a soft spot of Richard Kelly. I loved Donnie Darko, and I thought The Box was so, so close to being a good movie. And although he has the problems you mentioned, Kelly to me is a fantastic visual director.

He's got great vision and can shoot a film very, very well. Although like you say he does make things weird for weirdness sake, and he doesn't necessarily know when to hold back. I think Kelly should stick to directing films, as opposed to writing them. All 3 of his movies so far have suffered because of the script, but have impressed me with Kellys ability to direct. I would absolutely love to see him direct a movie that was written by someone else.

I also agree with you that it is a masturbatory film, and he's not only trying to show off with his religious knowledge, he's trying to squeeze an ecological message, and some sort of odd politicial message, into the film in the only way Richard Kelly can.

It's one of those movies I watch and I know I'm not supposed to like it, because of the acting and the plot that's trying too hard to be smart. If this were any other movie I wouldn't like it as much. I guess I just like what I'm seeing with Kellys direction more than what I am seeing unfold with the actors and the plot.

I Am Legend
Independence Day
Inception (Everyone is hating on it for some reason)
Law Abiding Citizen
Cop Out
The remakes of Halloween, Friday The 13th, and Nightmare On Elm Street.
Saw (It's a GREAT movie)

PS - As for films I hate that others like, Tarantino movies tend to either be amazing or be offensively bad. Usually bad for me.

Transformers 2: Revenge of The Fallen.
Say what you want, but I enjoyed it. Although to be fair, I did black out between the sections with the stupid little squishy humans that wont shut the fuck up and the sections with what I came to see: Transformers beating the shit out of eachother with their fists, firearms and whatnot.

I seem to be the only person I know who likes "Memoirs of an Invisible Man".

I think it's a great classic, everyone else just says "meh".

It's great fun, and i usually watch that one when it's on TV, but i can see how people don't like the movie, given that it's often times too serious for a Comedy and that the pacing seems to be all over the place.
Still, a fun movie with some clever touches, great acting, effects that mostly hold up very well and as far as i see it, one of the few movies that gets invisibility mostly right (okay, Chevy Chase should've been blind, but other than that, it feels pretty accurate...and the movie wouldn't work with a blind invisible man anyways).

Another movie that many people seem to hate (even if not everyone) would be Cloverfield.

Sure, almost all of the characters are douchebags and "Hud" can't seem to keep a shot straight even in calm moments, but on the other hand, it had great effects, was very very intense and often enough scarier than many "real" horror movies.
Also, i'm a sucker for "Found Footage" and "First Person View" Movies, and it's hard enough to find a good one (REC 1 is great, REC 2 is decent, FLAG as movie and series is also decent, Diary of the Dead sucks and the probable "originator" Blair Witch Project is god-awful), so it's easy for me to overlook smaller nitpicks.
And last but not least, it's a Godzilla Movie from the perspective of "collateral damage" citizens...say what you will, that is pretty awesome.

YES!

Alice is good and all, but wouldn't you prefer Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine finding the mansion on film? That would be pretty cool. They could also add scenes in STARS HQ with the characters before they go to the mansion, and the first encounter with the zombie eating Kenneth. Also having Forest running at them with plastic explosives, and all the monsters that the facility holds. Would be pretty sweet.

I actually liked the entire Aliens Quadrilogy... including the seemingly universally hated Alien 3 and Aliens: Resurection.
I liked Resurrection, but never saw 3. Resurrection was kinda predictable, but it was good. Ripley's mutated clones were just strange.

Then I guess you'll like the new movie cause it gets away from the whole zombie focus and has Alice fighting monsters and Wesker Matrix style. Enjoy the silliness.

Pirates of the Carribean 3. Actually, I like all of them. With the exception of 4 (I haven't seen it yet). The series just sort of latched onto me, so that i liked the characters even when they were inconsistant, and I think I loved it most because of the epic musical scores.

Mallrats and Death To Smoochy. What can I say, I like Kevin Smith and Danny Devito. Which is to say, I'm a nerd with a dark sense of humor, an assertion backed up by the fact that I have a Big Black album cover as my avatar.
Edit: I didn't post this initially because I wasn't sure if it counted, but I'm a part of The Room's cult following. I'm putting that here because there are a lot of people I know that refuse to watch it.
