This thread just seems to hate on really popular games. I understand that you don't like Halo or Ocarina of Time or Bioshock...but to be on worst games you've ever played? I want to know the best games you've ever played then. O.O
I mentioned with Bioshock that it wasn't a bad game, it was merely a game that really disappointed me since it failed to deliver anything particularly different (or better) than System Shock 2 (not counting graphics - that's cheating).

That said... with regard to other people saying that they consider 'popular' games like Halo or whatever to be bad... since when does popular = good? Just because something sells a billion copies doesn't necessarily mean it's good. Would you honestly say to me that McDonald's is fine dining? And yet McDonald's probably sells more burgers and fries each year than any number of fine dining establishments combined.

It's all a matter of opinion. Just because something is popular doesn't mean there aren't people out there that dislike it.
Honestly, saying that a game like Halo or Half Life 2 is worse then games like Sonic 06 or Vampire Rain isnt very plausible, you may not like the game but you have to recognise that they arent badly made (look at them in a technical point of view). I dont like Zelda but I am not going to say that its the worst game that I ever played since there are some REALLY bad games out there that just arent playable.

Like he said, I would also like to know what are the best games that these guys have been playing.

OT: Yep, Vampire Rain, such a mess of a game, it tries to borrow a lot from other games but they break the game with the invinceble enemies and gameplay mechanics.

Legend of Zelda ocarina of Time 3ds remake.... seriously GOD why does it even exist. It adds fuck all and removes nothing. All it did was tweak the Water temple SOMETHING they could have done and should have done with all the other thousand re releases of the game. Plus the 3d but that's a separate debate that im not getting into... They should have just stopped at the virtual console release.

MW2 (too cinematic, not enough "brains"), Torchlight (massively boring and repetitive), MMOs ( WoW, Ragnarok and several others), and many other games i cant recall off the top of my head.

The worst one I've played recently that i spent money on was Eat Lead: the Return of Matt Hazard. I don't care if it is a snarky deconstruction of bad video-gaming tropes that uses those tropes in a "meta" and "ironic" way, the fact of the matter is that it still used those tropes, and after dying five times to space marines because "regular weapons don't work on them" I ragequitted this game all the way back to the fucking Gamestop.

F.E.A.R. 2.
I mean, Monolith was never good at sequels, but crap. It's like they're raping their own franchise. snip
NOLF 2 is the exception that proves the rule I guess?

One of the worst games I've played, at least in recent memory, was Batman: Arkham Asylum... snip ...The gameplay: press Triangle to kick ass. In slow motion. Every action sequence is a cut scene... snip
I don't like any brawlers, and the bulk of AA is just brawler gameplay, so I'm with you there. I thought the stealth worked quite well though. Not Thief or Splinter Cell but some of the better stealth play in recent games... ...and did you really expect any Batman game not to be full of fan-service? A Batman game is fan-service.

For me it would be Saints Row 2 on PC. I think I would like it ok if it ran properly but it is so inherently broken that any enjoyment is impossible. PC port or not the vehicle handling is super shit in Saints Row 2, just horrible. That is just what leaps to mind though.

Err....didn't say popular meant good, but to say they're the worst games you've ever played? I just can't see saying Halo, which is the advent of Console shooting as we know it for the most part to this day, is the "WORST GAME EVERRRRR". People just like to get a thrill out of typing this stuff in my opinion. Also, you're comparing apples to oranges. (Sure, Goldeneye was really the console shooter, but for "modern" gaming or whatever it's called nowadays, it's pretty much on Halo's shoulders).
I can absolutely see why someone could say that Halo is the worst game "everrrrr." Because it's their opinion. An overly dramatic opinion maybe, but an opinion nonetheless. I may not agree with it, but I can respect it. Maybe that person doesn't like shooters and got Halo as a gift or something. Maybe that person loved (past tense there intended) shooters, but hates the direction in which Halo has taken modern shooters. Maybe that person just couldn't get into the game's universe, or story, or characters, or maybe the weaponry just didn't have enough 'umph' for them, or maybe they couldn't take the enemy serious because of all the "comedy" lines that Grunts spout. Maybe that person had the PC port and it was always incredibly buggy for them. Maybe someone from Bungie kicked their dog or something, I dunno. There are plenty of reasons why someone, even someone who likes shooters, could put Halo at the bottom of their list.

At the end of the day, just because something has astronomical production values and an equally large fan base doesn't mean that it's completely free from criticism.

Hypothetically speaking, if I've played ten video games and one of them is Halo, and Halo is the one that I got the least enjoyment out of... if I were to make a 1 to 10 list of my ten games, one being the best game I've played and ten being the worst, that would put Halo as the worst game I've played ranked by enjoyment. That doesn't necessarily make it a bad game, just not one I particularly liked.
I read this comment after quoting your other comment so now my response to this one.

This topic isnt about "What game that you played did you dislike the most?", in that way I couldnt answer Vampire Rain because I had some fun from laughing at how bad the game was. The topic is "Whats One of the Worst Games You've Ever Played?" so people should answer accordingly.

Hyperdimension Neptunia. Don't worry if you haven't heard of it but its an RPG made by Compa Hearts and published by NIS America (who I usually like). It's whole concept is the 3 game console makers and the Sega Neptune team up to fight an evil being named after a device popularly used for piracy. That was the whole reason I bought this game. Boy do I regret it so much. Let me be as clear on this as possible this was the WORST RPG I've ever played. The main characters were absurdly annoying, the combat was beyond horrible, the presentation was awful all of the time and even just walking around the map was annoying. How the hell do you even mess that up?

EOE: Eve of Extinction
Terrible writing, boring enemy design, the worst platform jump I've ever seen, and fairly grating music. Yet the weapons were fun, varied, and satisfying to use.

This thread seems to have changed rails on to "biggest letdown" track.

worst games:
-Rogue Warrior (came with the Steam Quakecon 2010 pack; one day I thought I'd see just how bad it was)
-Duke Nukem Forever demo (so very, very bad)

greatest letdowns:
-Crackdown 2
-Mass Effect 2

It was practically a point-and-click "brawler." Kung Fu on the NES had a more intricate fighting system. I'm glad that it had fan service, but that shouldn't be more than 60% of the content of the game. And it just seemed to be more fanservice for people who love Batman because of Cartoon Network and less for people who love Batman because of Tim Burton, Frank Miller and Christopher Nolan. Also, the type of fan service I'm talking about is the kind found in Metroid: Other M. To me, it's the same. I don't need to see Samus getting her ass kicked in slow-mo for 3 hours and playing a game for 45 minutes, no matter how cool it looks, just as I don't need to see all of the villains acting like goofy children for hours on end between cheesy, unfulfilling action sequences that I almost never lose. The stealth wasn't so bad.

But damn if I don't miss the earlier Splinter Cell games.

And they are answering accordingly.

With regard to me specifically, as I originally stated in my very first post, I tend to find positive things within every game I play, so when I ask myself what the worst game I've played it, I use whether or not I was disappointed by the experience to be the determining factor.

Were the games I listed well-made? Sure. But that doesn't suddenly make them good in my eyes. I was disappointed by them, afterall.

And since this topic very specifically asks for games that you've played, then you're making an awful lot of assumptions about games I've played. Am I comparing, say, Bioshock to Sonic 06? No. I'm not even comparing it to Big Rigs. Why? Because I've never played them.

I stand by my original choices for the worst games I've played. Just as I stand by everyone else's choices. Because it's all opinion, regardless of how hurt someone may be because a game they love isn't loved by absolutely everybody in existence.

Superman 64. All I remember was putting the cartridge in, seeing a happy looking cartoon fox show up on the television, the rest I've repressed and am currently working through it via therapy. And for those not wanting to see the obvious joke, it's exactly what it sounds like. This game raped me as a child... and I hope eventually I can forgive them...@_@...

The people who hate Zelda were born after 1995, the halo haters after 1997. 'Nuff said.

Wild ARMs 4. I loath this game with every fiber of my being. So much so that I'm surprised that I can even bear to mention the title, much less acknowledge that it exists. I actively purchase every single copy of this game that I can find in order to ritualistically dismantle the manual and case, vivisect the disc into tiny bits, and then burn it on a pyre. I wish I was making that up.
