this is a forever going topic but please enlighten me

"why do you hate furries"
normally we say "Anthro" but when I hear "furry" it sounds a slag like "black" or white" or the N word for people to use to classify a group they don't like, so its like people have made jokes and hatred towards something that doesn't really exist in reality but to me its terribly sad and pathetic to have so much angsty towards something thats declared fantasy
people dress up like cloud from FF fine, ironman fine, L (deathnote) fine, felicia fine ( stereotypical B).. but someone comes in a wolf costume then everyone wants to put on a hazard suit and back away and laugh.

or is it a human thing, humans can only stand to look at themselves and everything else is nothing, soo..fearful of something different something new, you reject it, to me its F-ing sad I like "Anthros" to be honest not just because I don't like people ( tho thats certainly a big part of it) to me its something different. but my main question is "WHY DO YOU HATE IT"

P.S and any one that wants to call me out of being furry I'm going to reported you, so watch what you say.

People are scared of what they don't understand? That would be my guess.

Some people just find them weird. I find people who watch obscure Japenese anime with questionable content weird, I wouldn't reach for my hazard suit if I met one IRL, let alone on the Internet though.

I know a fair few Furries and they are all decent, friendly and creative people.

EDIT: If I have to come back to this thread in 2 pages time and lock it due to flaming and general nastiness then somebody is going in the bear pit.

Timelord, you sly dog, ninjaing me in the first post.

PS: We have a furry fangroup. I'm sure you'll find some like-minded people there.

I'm sorry but since when is calling someone a furry equitable to calling someone the N-word?
Please let's not start a whole, we're being persecuted by the world, there is no fursecution. Not everyone is going to accept everything with open arms, nor should they be forced to. If something is weird to them, then it is weird to them. Feel free to do what you want on your own time in your own place, but realize the public doesn't have to like it.

And no calling you a furry isn't a reportable offense, so please don't make up your own rules and threaten people with them.

Also, you point out cosplayers, but cosplaying is an event thing, this isn't a day to day part of (most) people's lives.

I don't hate it, furries only cross my mind when they bring it up.

I guess it's just human nature to hate/be judgmental of something that they can't/won't understand.

As someone else said, everyone has something strange they like. So, there's no reason to get all uptight about something maybe a little strange to you that gets their socks off[footnote]I'm pretty sure that isn't a term normally used for sexual attractions[/footnote]. (Not to say being into that sort of thing is exclusively sexual)[footnote]Knows almost nothing about everything. Please, ignore this person. :D[/footnote]

People fear what they don't understand and what seems strange. Furies aren't really a well represented group of people, so people are ignorant and only know what they see, which is people in costumes. People think its weird and fear that. Also, that one episode of CSI probably didn't help...

I find it creepy and weird but then again I wouldn't like it if someone took away their freedom of sexuality/expression.

As long as they aren't hurting anyone it's fine by me.

AND LO, THE GREAT MODERATOR KNOWN AS "TIMELORD" DESCENDED FROM HIS THRONE AND SPOKE! All wise individuals shall heed his warning.
It was a chore to leave my throne let me tell you. It dispenses cookies and cider on demand so leaving it behind requires large amounts of willpower and some jumping.

And yes, I've seen too many furry themed threads end in bickering and name calling. My cookie dispensing throne has spoken!

I guess the use of 'Furry' brings the idea of those conventions where the participants all essentially have a giant orgy.

Although I would mostly guess out of the fact it is unusual, or the most notable people who enjoy it actually believe themselves to be the animal, which is very different to common people.

Like RedNog just said, comparing this to racial persecution is just laughable.

And forcing people to like something isn't going to work, so really you just have to deal with the hate/dislike/people-thinking-you're-weird bit. As long as they don't bother you, what does it matter if they think you're a weirdo or not?

Because furries are inevitably associated with the notorious, sexualised periphery that is yiffing. Unlike most kinks, yiff has the double misfortune of being less common, and immediately recognisable. People deride what is unfamiliar and strange seeming, and they have no trouble spotting a furry in costume. They add two and two, assume the guy is into weird pornography or carpet fucking, and they take the piss.

You heard it here first, 'furry' is just as bad as '******.'

Look, different people are into different things, but sometimes other people are weirded out by those different things, and that's their choice. It's not exactly something to get upset about.

Wait what?
Since when do people judge people that dress as animals?
I mean they are some of the most common costumes ever, in fact it would be rare to have a costume party, anime convention, Halloween or wherever else people dress up, without having someone dressed on an animal costume, in fact there's always several, not to mention even playboy is technically furry, I mean their girls are bunnies and that's popular and mainstream.

Anyway, what people actually judge, is the furry fetish, as in sexual fetish, but let's face it people are judgemental about every single thing you could do with you're sexual, and I do mean every single thing, and making jokes about furries is about as common as making jokes about other fetishes, so I wouldn't say furries are some sort of bizarre exception.

Okay, not really. But much as with any fetish, there are members who give the rest a bad name. Unfortunately, furries (which is not a derogatory term for them) tend to attract more than a few people prone to excessive personality in regards to their fandom. I'll actually contradict TimeLord, and guess that it isn't people fearing what they don't understand, more that furries tend to eschew so many things that the rest of us take as normal that pretty much anyone not in the fandom will be put off by something.

My philosophy toward kinks has always been "whatever floats your boat". But the most common examples of the furry fandom that most non-fans are exposed to are the extreme ends of the weirdness spectrum, it tends to pollute opinion a bit. I'm glad I know a few less extreme examples of the fandom, even if that particular kink is in no way for me.

If the thread ends up bad, can bears stand up to a Crews Missile?

Whichever answer results in you not posting anything remotely connected to any of those pics. That includes, but is not limited to, pictures of Billy D.

OT: It's the same thing with bronies. It's not that there aren't decent people, and it's not that there's some kind of causation going on, it's just that it can be very intrusive. And by intrusive I mean the people who aren't into bad drawings of wolf people fucking would rather not be exposed it at all.

I mean, and this is definitely exaggerated but it gets my point across, you'd probably feel a little uncomfortable if you saw someone walking around in black latex and a ball gag.

Also no one cares whether it's "furry" or "Anthro". Like subgenres of metal.

I don't think anymore needs to be said than this.

I personally have nothing against furries. Although I have yet to meet one in person, I have attended a number of Yiff Clubs in second life.

A bizzare experience to be sure, but people like what people like. I am the last person to be judging people on their preferences, sexual or otherwise.
