What's So Bad About Transformers 2?

I liked it.

I don't understand why people are throwing a huge fit about the two movies. Were they really expecting the Second Coming? Come on people, it had giant robots fighting(I will admit that the first movie was too grainy, but the second clears it up nicely), explosions, barely-covered tits, a decent enough storyline(Other than Beast Wars, I don't think there has been a decently written plot in ANY Transformers media[your milage may vary]) and oh yeah: GIANT ROBOTS FIGHTING!

It's a summer popcorn movie people. I love the Transformers from my childhood, and yes MovieBob, I am as old as you and Transformers does occupy the same part of my brain as does He-Man and I still think Michael Bay and Steven Spielberg did a fine job.

Are there things to nitpick? YES! For god-fucking-sake yes! NO movie is perfect, EVERYONE thinks they could do better, but I don't see them actually having the balls or the skills to go out and do it.


Oh, and is Michael Bay racist? No, he's just dumb.

I think Transformers 2 is sort of that movie that people make an example of -- myself included in those people. Everything that the "indie" movie crowd thinks is wrong with main-stream Hollywood can be seen within Transfomrers 2.

But seriously, people have spent hours detailing what is wrong with Transofmers 2. Literally.

My first gripe for the first movie was the death of a really good music Genre

I went expecting giant some giant robot fights, explosions, military, shots of Megan Fox, more explosions, and then finally a big ending explosion.

I was given giant robot fights, Megan Fox, military stuff, more explosions, Megan Fox undressing, giant robot testicles, giant military+robots vs. bad robots fight, and face removing/spark shattering ending.


I was pleased with the movie.

Okay, so after going and seeing the actual movie instead of just saying: "rah rah rah fuck transformers!" I've come to the conclusion that it was a pretty good movie!

Say what you like, but there was more transformers, more action scenes, more Megan Fox, more Megan Fox running, more Megan Fox running slow motion, and more Megan Fox whispering words that are so sexy it should be pornographic, and less Shia LaDouche.

So what was so bad about this movie that everyone had to hate on it? I mean, a couple of the stunts were kinda bad, like the one where Shia like, dies, but whatever, I thought it was a good movie, with a good plot, and less Shia and more Megan.

What was so bad? Someone, please tell me!

By analogy: I like apples, so if someone offers me an apple, then hell yeah I'll take the apple. But then he gives me an orange, and I go "Wait a minute, this is an orange?" and the guy says "We're calling them apples." to which I respond "Well I don't mind oranges, but I came here for apples." and the guy just shrugs.

The recent Transformers films are a examples of a franchise largely gutted and filled out with alot of (entertaining enough) CGI effects and fluff that doesn't tap into any of the nostalgic emotions which caused me to want to see them in the first place.

I found 2 especially to be bland and boring in a general sense, even when they were desperately trying to tickle my action-lust, the only thing that got me pissed off was the revisionism. Prime isn't just a cool name now, it's a designation (They proceed to invent the rule that only a prime can kill a prime, then break it by having Optimus killed by regular decepticons so that he must be revived in order to kill the 'other' prime... ?!?!?) and the matrix of leadership is finally introduced, not as a wisdom-containing badge of office, but as the ignition key for a sun-sucker. Let's not even touch on the minstrel-like antics of those horrendously stereotyped "black" robots.

Yeah... That film was LAME, if you want Shia and Megan, there are better films to see them in

Pretty much everything on that list is wrong with it.

If most of that is true then I plan to avoid the movie instead. Sounds like one of the worst movies in the world! At least the first one is decent.

From what I've heard it lacks any semblance of a plot, is filled with tons of unnecessary crap and has some fairly poor acting.

Call me crazy but I don't think CGI eye candy and Megan Fox is justification for me to spend $20+ at a movie theater or even $6+ to rent a DVD.

Things with giant fighting robots can have well-written plots with interesting, developing characters people. Just look at Code Geass, Macross and Gundam. I'd rather spend the same amount of money watching any of those again than seeing crap like this.

You have to look at it in two different ways: As a movie, and as a Micheal Bay movie.

As a movie, it's horrid, there are huge plotholes, the dialogue is retarted and in the fight scenes you can't tell who is fighting who.

As a Micheal Bay movie it's awesome, because there's lots of explosions and hot chicks and loud noises to distract you from the rest of it's glaring flaws.

I don't know. Maybe my standards are just miles lower than everyone else here, but maybe I'm just a moron. Who knows. I thought it was a pretty decent flick because you got to see some old characters come back and the Transformers now have (somewhat) a personality, and the movie is (kind of) more about them.

I will agree though, that after thinking about it, the plot is stupid.

I still don't understand why these SUPER advanced robots need to harvest babies to survive. And why do those babies need some energy from the sun? AND WHY THE FUCK DO THE ORIGINAL PRIMES LOOK LIKE FUCKING DECEPTICONS?!?

Okay, so I'm starting to realize that the whole "lets write the script in like a month" plan is showing up.

Fuck you, Michael Bay.

I actually liked the first movie more then the second, for many reasons. I will name a few but there WILL be spoilers so you've been warned!


1. Dog humping/robot humping scenes: WTF? Not necessary, totally lame and disgusting

2. The one Deceptixon had GIANT TESTICLES made of wrecking balls. Um, really Michael Bay? Really? Can't you treat your audience like they are NOT five years old?

3. Total Terminator rip off with the college girl transformer. Wasted time and made me realize how terrible the movie was.

4. Terrible plot holes so big that Optimus Prime would have no problem getting through them! (A piece of the cube was left in Megan Fox's safe in the one scene and never referred to again for the WHOLE FILM.

5. The ending was TERRIBLE. cut right to the ship, Optimus gives lame speece almost xopy and pasted from Transformers 1 and then fades out.


Basically, a terrible movie. Only reason I'm not totally angry is because I at least got to see some robots ripped in half.
