No clue on why you're having those issues, can't say that I am.

Anyway, Chrome is technically better and faster. I'm just not a fan of its minimalistic design and prefer Firefox. Nothing more to it, it serves me well enough. Oh and Chrome is being up its own arse about not allowing windowed browsing, forcing people onto tabs. I mix and match both so yeah... fuck em.
Not allowing windowed browsing? It's never stopped me. I can throw around as many windows as I like in Chrome.

Firefox used to be the best but now I think it's Chrome. Chrome has so many sneaky features that turn out to be really useful without you even noticing they're there.

I use Firefox for 2 reasons: 1 - I can't use tabs in IE for some reason
2 - When I close Chrome, my PC lags the hell out and I have to disable it in task manager.

Greater customization[footnote]Favourite add on is Stylish which let´s you change the looks of sites
[/footnote] then the other browsers I have tried. And I don't like the mac feeling that chromes give you ._.

Only issue with firefox is that if I have one instant of it(not a tab but the whole firefox.exe) running for a long time it starts to eat A LOT of memory. Most I had it up in was ~5 000 000K after having it open for close to a week.
zomg that is amazing. Personally I like the add on that lets you see where the server of a site is being hosted. I also like fox tab, its my fav way to save a site/page and way better than digging through url's.

I've had the same tab problem with Firefox. Also "container" problems, Firefox constantly crashing when I tried to play video and do something else at the same time. They "fixed" it by separating Firefox and extensions, but that brought up other problems.

So I switched to Chrome, there's an AdBlock for Chrome too if that's the only reason you're using it.

The reason people like Firefox is because most viruses are (or at least were) made for Internet Explorer, and the interface, last I used it, was way too... intrusive?
I haven't gotten anything but spyware since I switched over to Firefox and then Chrome.

Pretty much what people have said already.

Chrome is much faster.
Firefox is much more customizable.

And for the record:

chrome has windowed browsing.. you just right click and choose 'open in new window'

As many people have said firefox gives you more customization, but the only thing that annoys me is firefox 5 doesn't allow for the google toolbar which gets annoying.

And as for a secondary web browser I use Opera, it has the minimalistic features of Chrome and it has a turbo feature which is always good if you have a slow internet connection.

It's customizable, it's popular so it has many developers, and it's not IE and doesn't crash every hour.

I use Chrome though.

I don't use Firefox and I don't know anyone that does, but this commercial tells me that it must be pretty good:

I guess it's the amount of useful add-ons that make me wanna stick with Firefox. Adblock is probably the most famous but I also have lots of other like Flashgot, skipscreen (for those who are tired of Rapidshare/Depositfiles etc) and Download helper. And of course Personas but that is just for customissations' sake. And I also have Google toolbar so I don't know why you don't have it... oh wait, I think that is another add-on. I can choose from Google search to youtube, piratebay, wikipedia and ebay. pretty comfortable

I used to use firefox, but it just got SOO SLOW!

OK, I was running a load of add-ons but even when I stripped htem all back it still ground to mollasses.

I switched to Chrome and came to really like how it handled tabs. It was also much more efficient with screen space which is important to me. Just having the row of tabs and the combined search/address bar did me just fine.

It's got a lot of nice little things. Like if I want to go to a frequently used page, I just type part of the name like "tha" auto completes to "www.thatguywiththeglasses.com" and I just press enter to go there.

Then again, chrome has been giving me grief recently with Adobe Flash crashing so often. Though it comes and goes though far easier to fix than Firefox's repeated slowdown and crashing.

I use it because I trust it to never skim off my information and sell it to advertisers, and it isn't IE.

Because I like the layout on Firefox, it works well, and adblock+, noscript and other security measures make it into something that gives me great control over surfing.

No tracking cookies from Facebook's like button on this website, to name you one example.

Right now I'm surfing from work, with IE, but each page of this forum loads, then hangs for a full second before respondiong again. Very annoying. No such problems using Firefox.
That's all stuff I really liked, till I discovered quite how much websites were sabotaging my surfing because I was blocking ads, they would refuse to respond or make no effort to optimise for my browser.

Hell I've come across a few sites that specifically said "No firefox" and that was the last of it.

As tempting as it is to block ads, cookies and scripts, that's picking a fight with websites I don't have the energy to fight. And it seems fair enough, if I block their ads why should they give me content?

Maybe I'll go back to Firefox, and I really appreciate that it was there, but I just feel like it is an evolutionary dead end.

Any good thing you like in IE was done years ago by Firefox.

IE has traditionally had the security of swiss cheese. As it's the most used, it's the most exploited. You just get less crudware on your system with Chrome or Firefox, and that's a good enough reason.

I just want to preface this by saying that I'm not particularly browser savvy and I'm here to learn not to slander. So I recently had to download Firefox for the ad-block feature to watch videos on Channelfireball.com since their ads are insanely obnoxious and disruptive. So far I just don't understand what makes people think Firefox is so awesome. Every time I click on a link from Google it just gives me a "Server not found" message and I'm forced to click on try again to get to the webpage. Not a huge deal, but it's annoying. I listen to a lot of music via Youtube so I often have 10+ tabs open at a time. This was never a problem on Chrome but the last time I was online I tabbed back into Firefox after finishing something else and the browser froze up in that "program not responding" way and then closed half of my tabs. I dunno if that was a memory issue or something but it's never happened to me before. So Firefox users, what makes it your browser of choice? What are the great features I'm missing out on if I stick with Chrome?
Techies love love love Firefox - perhaps because they love working on something? I dunnoh. Here's my web browser experience.

The internet sucks! It's getting slower. Huh? It doesn't have to suck? What is this? "Firefox?" The Angelina Jolie movie? Oh, well. Thank you, Firefox. I'll be sure to install you on my new computer once the great Windows Vista comes out! ... (and many moons passed) ... wait a minute, the internet still sucks! And now I have the blue screen of death ... (many moons pass and Western civilization blessedly puts Vista in its rearview. A few years later, Bill Gates will lose a class action suit) ... oh, what's this? Chrome? What does it do?

(never looks back)

I found FireFox slow and laggy, but like IE for me.

I use Chrome, it's all the ball, fast and responsive, very smooth ,too.
