I like his movies and enjoy them. I think the worst part about it though is hearing people whine about it. And childishly no less. It's always big sweeping insults left and right there's never any middle ground when it comes to hating this guy. I like most of the movies he's made. Sure they could be better but anything could be better. My strawberry lemonade would be brillant if I had fresh picked fruit straight from the bush and trees and used only the most choice sugar and blendeded them in some 400 dollar blender. But I didn't. I have okay materials to work with but I put them through the ringer and it turns out to be servicable if not enjoyable. And that's what a micheal bay movie is. Servicable if not enjoyable. it isn't choice materials. it isn't all expense to make everything perfect. it's just decent. And it's good at being that way.

Also I'm african american and I just have to say I nor any black person I have ever known(and I know many) have ever been offended by those twin robots from transformers 2. Yes they are stereotypes. But stereotypes of idiot black people. It's honestly not racist in that respect. if it is bill and ted is racist because it has idiot white people in it.

Yeah, but those are my only favorite movies of Bay.

OT: I watch movies for their story and what they deliver. If they don't have a good story, it's not entertainment for me.

The first main reason is that the stories Michel Bay tries to tell are horrible and filled with more plot holes then explosions (how the heck did Sam's parents appear in EGPYT again?). Second, his movies try to be serious at times (espiacally the Transformers films) but that keeps constantly being up rooted by both unfunny and extremely annoying humor and comic relief characters (robo-balls anyone?). Third, for a guy who tries to make his name on big budget action films, he can't do action for crap. The final climatic battle between Optiums and Megatron in the first Transformers film? Do we get to see any of it? No, we get a scene where Bumble Bee is dragged around with a tow truck (with rock music that barely fits the scene), a military guy having a suicidial tactic where he drives a motorcycle UNDER the 2 story killer robot and shooting several gernades into his chest, and Sam running TOWARDS the battle with the all important magic cube that he is suppose to keep AWAY from Megatron. When the action from ALONE IN THE DARK (yes, including that scene shot IN COMPLETE DARKNESS) is easier to see then a 150 million dollar film's climatic battle, bad mouthing the director isn't something I would argue with.

Hm...I quite forgot he did those. Maybe he just needs to leave the cult classic genre alone. I don't know that I could take another massive exasperated headshake like Transformers 2. The whiplash had me in a neckbrace for weeks. Less "black" robots (not being racist, but the movie interpretation sure was) and less, yes I'm saying it, Megan Fox and more plot please. Action sequences are awesome (even Michael Bay's) but they need not span the entire length of the movie.

Because, it generally tends to be explosions, product placement, and the military... and not much more...

I can understand why these things all feature in his films [product placement for the extra cash, explosions and military for action], but it gets all a bit excessive with Bay...

I honestly don't see why people get so worked up over him. He's mainly involved in action movies, which I see to watch stuff blow up. There's been a lot said about the Transformers movies, but personally I like them alright. I went to see giant robots beat the shit out of each other. It did, after all, start as a cartoon series spawned from toys. It's not like there's a great literary background to defame. Also, it appears that Bay has become the easy target. I've recently seen several movies that are much worse than anything Bay has done.

And, yes I am ready for the vitriolic spew that is to be shot in my direction. BRING IT ON!
I agree. Further more I don't see any of the people who bash his work going out and contributing positively to the movie industry, in fact they are usually the same people who pirate movies (or at least that is the case in my experience) and never pay for movies, ever.

If you want to say someone is making a bad movie thats fine, but if you are not paying for that movie then shut the hell up because you opinion is irrelevant due to the fact that you are not a part of the industry or process.

/end rant

How about that asshole makes a Transformers movie focused on the FUCKING TRANSFORMERS FOR ONCE?!

Also, his movies are shit. Shaky cameras during action scenes, lots of closeups and a lot of random 'splosions scenes make them unwatchable. Take the action scenes away from action movies and you're left with a moronic plot and terrible to bad dialogue.

Yeah i believe the Rock was good because of two things, i mean people, Nicholas Cage, and Sean Connery in his best interpretation of a character that is like 007 but isnt 007...may he live forever
Sure, but also because the story was a whole more interesting than say Transformers. Also the acting was by far better.

Because all he can do is show things being blown to shit and not even well.

If there's an action scene, he seems incapable of making it to where you actually see what the fuck is going on.

Plus, he has produced some really terrible shit.
I agree!
I have always hated Micky Bay because he is just a bad director :/ he failed giant robots. WHO CAN FAIL GIANT ROBOTS? I would have given them hats and umbrellas and made them do Marry Poppins.

I don't like Michael Bay for the same reason I don't like eating a can of frosting. Their needs to be some substance to a movie even if it is just a action movie, or just based on toys. And this is a pretty good explanation in the start of the video http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/escape-to-the-movies/797-Transformers-Revenge .
And yes you're entitled to you're opinion, but know that slapping the title of action movie on you're movie doesn't give you the right to dump logic, reason, and emotion at the door.

They don't leave anything to think about or reflect on more than the "Remember when that explosion was like 'BLAGHA!' and they guy was like 'Woah!'". And that quote can be applied to every singe scene.

BOOBSPLOSIONS : THE MOVIE

All his movies tend to be along the lines of that statement. I remember he directed a Victoria's Secret commercial awhile back and still managed to squeeze pyrotechnics in there.

the explosion's about 1:13 in.
