Well, to be honest, Tetris isn't all that great. Puzzle games have come a long way.

But, smack him for me, will you?

...Tetris ranks in my top 10 games. It's infinitely replayable, easy to pick up and play, it's easy to determine someones skill level, and it's got great music.

I still play my Original Gameboy version of Tetris from time to time. It's amazing how many iterations there are, yet that one is still probably my favorite. Other's have wildly differing expanded game modes, but they are usually very gimmicky. Can't beat the Classic's I s'pose.

That is the way things go. Classics are forgotten unless they are life-altering.

It is really sad in a way. If you think about it, many of the good-but-not-great video games and movies that are around now and in the recent past will be forgotten in 15 or 20 years.

Christ, how can you not know? I hate all the new kids, who are around my age, who have to have fancy graphics to like a game, and hate all the old stuff. The ignorant shits.

I prefer Puzzle League over Tetris.

It's rare to see a young gamer like the retro stuff
Agreed.

Also, how stupid can you people get? Smacking a kid for a reason as stupid as this?

How would you feel if I smacked you for not knowing about a game?

Nothing can be worse than this, please beat them senseless for me.

But yeah, I'm 15, and Tetris is still godlike in my opinion

it depends how young... I mean if he's like 7, then psh, who cares, he's basically a fetus anyway. If he's 14-15, he won't care, because all of his games involve people shooting eachother in the genitals. If he's in his early 20s, then yeah, he should be smacked if he doesn't know what tetris is.

Isn't it a bit unreasonable to expect someone to know about Tetris without being exposed to it first? I mean, Tetris is a classic, but it's also really old and we are in an age where there are dozens, if not hundreds or even thousands, of games available on every platform imaginable. As such, it is not impossible for someone to miss a certain game, regardless of how famous it may be.

Rather then smack someone for it, introduce it to him. Who knows? Maybe you will end up making another fan.

How old is your nephew? I get the oddly comical vision of a grown man punching a five year old in the face for not knowing about a game released decades ago in a medium which he doesn't seem to really care about that much.

My first console was a ps1 so I'm not an older gamer but I still like "retro" games. It's sad talking to friends that have no idea what a genesis or a snes is... sega does what nintendon't

No, man.

It's worse.
Far, far worse.

And what can I say that hasn't been said?

The only thing I CAN say is this...
