Basically what the title says.

Any console/platform, as old as it can get, any game counts!

Ok, let's give it some discussion value:
- Why did you like the game?
- Do you recomend it? If yes, why?
- One of my objectives with this thread is to share exciting games that are too old to find in a store, but may be still achievable through eBay or something.

I have several:
- Okami (everyone should know it IMO)
- Battle Engine Aquila
- Dune 2000
- Wip3out
- Rollcage Stage 2
- Champions: Return to Arms

I will be adding more.

Your turn! :)

House of the Dead 2 on the Dream Cast. I loved the game because it was easy enough to the point where i could sit down and enjoy it with my buddies. It was one of those zombie rail shooters its supposed to be an arcade game like at Dave & Busters but they made it for the Dream Cast. I would recommend this game if you have a Dream Cast Because it is really fun if you can play it with your best friend for hours! you might be able to find it at a game store if they still have 1998 games there.

Sounds Fun! Gonna try it out.

Oh I remember:
- Warzone 2000, strategy game where you could control units individually, make them into a squad, or control them like a normal RTS. You could create your own units with parts you sacavenge throughout the game. Awesome storyline for an RTS aswell. Console: PS1

I've mentioned it before, but I love Prisoner of War. It is a WW2 stealth game, and it was really fun. You had to sneak around all these Stalag camps to thwart Nazi plans and things, but it had some pretty bad AI. The cool thing was that you couldn't shoot anyone, so all your plans had to make room for the guards.

And the last level took place during an Allied bombing raid, and the Air Raid sirens made the whole level just ooze atmosphere.

I quite liked the old DOS adventure "I have no mouth and I must scream".
Sorry, I don't want to discuss it (I'm lazy), but if you have some spare time, I recommend checking it out.

Ok, I'm going to cheat a little bit because it's not actually old, it came out this year. It's just fairly unheard of.

Cthulhu Saves the World

It's on Steam and XBLIG for something like £2, I saw it and thought "Yeah it's worth £2 for a Cthulhu reference". I played a bit and was shocked at how good it actually is. On the outside it's a funny game about Cthulhu with plenty of parodies to old RPG cliches. But when you get down to it it's also a really good game. The mechanics work well, the places are all nicely varied, it's got great music and brilliant writing. Yeah it's fairly easy, it doesn't really bring anything groundbreaking to the table and you can have it done in about 2 or 3 hours, but for the price it's well worth a look in.

The Darkness. Sure, most people see only an old fashioned blood and guts shooter.

But it has basically the only gaming romance scene in it that actually feels romantic/heart felt. The couch/movie scene, for anyone who actually played it. The fact that its a game where you play as a borderline cosmic horror makes it all the more amazing.

Robot Alchemic Drive, for the PS2. It's a cheesy anime about kids remote-controlling giant robots in battles against other giant robots. The voice acting ranges from acceptable to terrible (the scientist character sounds like a Japanese man with a very thick accent trying to do a terrible fake German accent), but the game has a phenomenal sense of scale. You play the kid with the remote control, literally. You have to position yourself somewhere where you can see the fight but won't be crushed by debris. The controls are unique - you control every aspect of your robot in the most basic sense. You have four buttons to move your feet, and the control sticks control your arms. It's a very strange game, but worth a try.

There's this little game on Steam that I absolutely love, called Nimbus [http://store.steampowered.com/app/50000/]. From a gameplay standpoint the game can be called a "Gravity-Simulating Ship Puzzler", where you must get to the end of a level by guiding your ship through the stage and hitting a checker-flag block all while your ship is being affected by gravity. It's difficult to explain, so here's a cynical Brit playing the game [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D-gGLzWZ6To]. As for why I love it so much, you have to look at the aesthetic of the game rather than the gameplay. While being very bright and vibrant with it's color scheme, the game also is encapsulated by nature, with their being grassy, jungle, snow, and desert themed worlds. I've never really seen another game that's encapsulated by simple nature themes other than Super Mario World, which is my favorite game of all time.

Everyone should leave this thread right now and download Powder.
It's free, it's on pc, doesn't require a good computer and it's fun. Top down rouge-like dungeon crawler. Go down to level 25, kill satan, come back up. I've beaten it once. Tons of different classes and ways to play, check it out.

Check out Breath of Death VII: The Beginning. It's by the same people.

OT: Lord of the Rings: The Third Age. It's a LotR JRPG. Let that sink in. It's very fun, and the story flows very well, as you play a group of adventurers following the Fellowship.

Also, Onechanbara: Bikini Zombie Slayers. People always confuse this Wii-exclusive, amazing zombie hack n slash with the supposedly awful Xbox 360 game. I've never played the 360 game, but everyone assume this great Wii game is a port or something, and it's not. It's its own thing, and it amazing. There's special combos, unlockable characters and costumes, and is just an all around fun hack n slash.

Zero divide for the PS1 and I think the Sega Saturn.
XIII for PS2.
Zero divide was one of the first 3D fighting games and it did it well. The soundtrack is pretty good too.
XIII is very well done. The story is engaging, the graphics are nicely cell-shaded for the time, and it has a very fun multiplayer that is reminiscent of Team Fortress 2.
