Right now, I've got to say that I am in love with BlazBlue.

But best game overall? That honor goes to the classic Street Fighter 2. It was balanced, simple, and yet elegant in it's delivery. Furthermore, there so many fun memories attached to it!

I remember playing it in the arcades and then going home just to play it on my SNES to sharpen my skills.

Ah....those were days of magic.

I haven't played many fighting games, but of the ones I have played I like the Super Smash Brothers series the best. The fighting isn't complicated and works pretty well, but it's probably just the fact that I can have my favorite Nintendo characters beat each other up.

I too love blaz blue but I have always loved
more technical based fighters like virtua figher, probably for the smooth flowing combo
based system.

Marvel vs Capcom 2

It has the simplicity of Street Fighter for people who just want to button mash, but it also has arguably the deepest gameplay of any fighter if you want to delve into it. Air combos, infinites, assist combos, tech hits, buffering into Hypers... it's really a daunting fighter to learn.

i'm waiting for tekken 5 ... but for now it's SF4 .. reason is that they've somehow kept the simplicity of one of the best beat em ups ever made .. and made it more fun ... it's waaaay more balanced than most other fighting games too

BlazBlue?
That's part of the Guilty Gear series, is it not?
Now, Guilty Gear (the first one on PSone). That was a great game, but goddamn hard.

Soul Blade was awesome, probably the most played beat-um-up in my history, although Street fighter and Mortal Kombat were very good
