I have been called an elitist about tea. I prefer the term "Tealitist". When it comes to tea, it all depends on the what you feel like. Firstly, the best tea will have no additions: No milk, sugar, lemon or honey. The tea should stand alone. The tea should also be loose leaf, to regulate the proper proportion of tea leaves to portion size (1/2 teaspoon per two cups). As for my personal favorites, I will divide it up into 5 categories:
Black Tea: Earl Grey blended with Smoked Pine: it gives the tea a nice richness and remains refreshing and relaxing while still giving a good caffeine delivery.
Green Tea: Monkey Pick Oolong: Originally named because it was picked by trained monkeys, the term is now mostly used to describe the highest quality oolongs. It has a nice earthiness to it, while still retaining the lighter qualities of green teas.
White Tea: Classic Silver Needle: Can be steeped for a short period of time for a nice, light tea, but when steeped for 10 minutes or so will give a very rich flavor.
Red Tea: Roiboss is really the only kind of Red Tea, so it's all about the quality of the tea leaves. I like to drink a Roiboss, Goiji Berry blend which is really light, fruity and provides great energy for extensive periods of time without having any caffeine buzz.
Chai ("Chai Tea" is redundant, "Chai" means "Tea"): Again, it's mostly about the quality of the ingredients, but I enjoy a high quality chai spiced with tumeric.
Of those 5, my favorite tends to by the Monkey-Pick Oolong.
