What's The Best Year For Gaming?

So I went to GAMEFest on Saturday and had a look at all of the games coming out this Autumn/Winter (and some for next year too!) and I genuinely think 2011 may be the best year for gaming since 2005.

And this got me thinking; what is the best year for video games, ever?

I'm gonna say 2005. Even without the 360 we still had God Of War, Guitar Hero, Resi 4, FF XII, Psychonauts, Prince Of Persia: The Two Thrones... That's just off the top off my head!

So what year do you think is the best year for video games?

It's kind of the cheap answer but I would have to say it's always the next year it is always nice to see what new games are on the horizon and what sort of inovations are happening in the industry

I agree, this year is looking pretty good, with all the games I have already got, and the many games I am still yet to get later this year.

IMO - given my perspective - been playing since the 70s.
I would have to say 2004. That generation was already proving that gaming could still be innovative and they seemed to perfect some of those innovations that year. Katamari Damacy, Burnout 3, and San Andreas are still some of my all time favorite games.

I'd say 2004. Battlefield: Vietnam, Dawn of War, GTA: San Andreas, Half-Life 2 and World of Warcraft were all released then.

For me, 2007 will forever stand victorious as the greatest year in gaming. Seriously, only one of these games would have put gold tint on any year but 2007 is just a parade of masterpiece after masterpiece.

Talking PC here, but 2011 - there've been several great games released already (AC: Brotherhood, Portal 2 etc.), but what's coming is mindblowing. Skyrim, Battlefield 3, Star Wars: The Old Republic, Batman: Arkham City, Saints Row 3 and plenty more.

Though granted, in my book, it's set to be one of the three greatest years in gaming history just for being the year of The Elder Scrolls

The order is alphabetical but those games up there encompass consoles from the PC to the Gameboy, SNES, NES and, the Sega Genesis. Also, arcade machines. This is a strictly Konami list too.

Im gonna say it hasnt happened yet and i can hope for this but otherwise i might have to go with 2005 off the top of my head too
