Very tribal in opinion and excessively passive aggressive. It makes for very little to discuss as nearly everyone here already agrees with everyone else so you end up with a lot of repeat threads and threads which require absolutely no intellectual intercourse.

....are we looking at the same forums? I've noticed that Escapists can disagree and have full-fledged debates or even rows about absolutely anything; we're a bloody argumentative bunch, but for the most part it stays friendly.

Heh, that'd be because I'm in one of my active periods - generally, when things are quiet at work - but oftentimes I'll go three or four months without posting at all!

I used to have the Buddy Christ, but then some other dude started using it too. Given how many people seem to identify other posters from their avatar, I didn't want to share one with anyone. I tend to forget names, but I recognise avatars (Liverpool guy, Arsenal girl, fluffy cat guy (you!), dancing Annie guy, bouncing ninja turtle girl and so on) so I was seeing posts in threads with the Buddy Christ avatar and going "Wait, I don't remember saying that..."

I think Buddhism is better than most religions because they are not in your face. I am fine with religon as long as they don't sit shove it in my face with nonsense. I never hear any Buddhism "advertising" so it's fine by me. I also don't hear about them causing a ruckas about nonsense.

you know I am fairly sure Jews have a rule against missionaries or trying to convert others so you might like those guys too, just saying.

OT: People around here are nice, friendly and enjoy banter. There are a free unsavory individuals at times but they get themselves banned soon enough. I would not worry too much about post count, it used to be the in-thing but user groups make it worthless. The date that you enter is not so important either, it just shows how many Great Eras of The escapist Forum you went through. On the date I joined was the, "Great and Terrible Era of Death" where Grammar Nazi's prowled the forums, followed by, " The Era of the Irish Invasion" which had a constant cry of "search bar, use the SEARCH BAR. Naming no names of course... they might hear me from the basement.

Of course we have eras. I can only remember a few details but maybe you can help me fill in the gaps.

start to summer 2008: The Golden Era (this is before we joined)

Summer 2008 to Winter 2009: The Great and Terrible Era of Death: The fall and rise of The Reaper, console wars

2012: The Era of the Irish Invasion, The Era of Decline, The Era of the Pimping reviews, The Era of the Zynga Incident, The Era of the great divide, The Era of the Zombie apocalypse

2011 I was very inactive this year so I only know one Era): The Era of the fall of EC

2012: The Era of sadness (ME3 ending), The Era of the rape discussions, The Era of Bestiality, The Era of the Fake Geek Girl Invasion.

Eras can be named after notable posters or after significant events. There are lots of gaps in my version so if anyone can help out that would be awesome.
