That game wouldn't be
half as creepy if ammo wasn't so comically underpowered. Of course, because ammo is
comically underpowered, it's funny, and therfore not creepy. Y'see? Metro is like damn MMO for how long it takes to kill things and to be killed - it could learn a tip or two from stalker.

Those Salad Fingers flash videos scared the fuck out of me.
Did you see the videos I posted above? Salad Fingers is pretty tame compared to Firth's other stuff.
dude dont rip on metro just becouse you cant rush the room and start blasting doesent means its comical and if you read the book or atleast some things ingame whye will explain that the dirty ammo uis made out of normal the thing is to make several sots of dirty ammo they have to pop open one normal round take oput the powder mix its with some burning substances and poor into the the several casing of dirty ammo and hey thats why i loved metro cause it was fucking unforgiving not only do you have to be catios and dont stick your head out head to much you must also haul ass wich is much better than run and gun like no tomorow halo or some ather fpses and it dosent have shit on mmo cause metro is realism and not a fucking grind quest fest and if you peel your eyes open soldiers are well armored anyways no mean to offend or piss you off good sir
Sorry - I had a hard time reading that, but I think I got the gist.
My critisisms are based off of gameplay - the story shouldn't get in the way of gameplay. I understand that it's based off of a book, but Metro 2033 is a GAME. It should prioritize better. Besides, based off of the game, i can only assume that the book read like this:
"Artur shot at a bandit. It did nothing. The Bandit shot him in the face, so Artur hid behind a barrel for a bit until he was all better. Then Artur nade-spammed and killed everybody.
As Artur headed into the direction of the next camp, he counted 5 bandits. One was on his own. Artur shot him with the realyl badass spike rifle thing. Unfortunatly, the bandit fell onto some broken glass. All of a sudden every bandit in the area knew exactly what happened and shot at Artur, who was completely concealed in the shadows. Then Artur hid until he was better, and nade-spammed his way to victory. The End"
Metro is
not unforgiving. Men of War is unforgiving. STALKER (with the right mods) is unforgiving. In those games, you need to be on your toes and make quick decisions or you will die. If you step in the wrong place, you explode.
However if you know what you're doing then you will get out alive.
Metro has a lot of problems. First off, it's linear as fuck, unlike Men of War or STALKER, so you can't usually bypass a fight and sneak on, because the game wants you to fight. Worse still, the AI are a bunch of heat-seeking omnipotents, and so the first shot fired (no matter how hidden you are) and they all know exactly where you are. This means that there really is no other way to handle things other than to "rush in the room and start blasting".
That brings us to the comically underpowered attacks on both sides. This is really uneccesary. The protagonists has CoD style regenerating health, so if you're carefull then you never die. The enemies have far too much health. I literally would empty an entore clip into a BANDIT. A BANDIT. Then he would maybe die. This is ridiculous, and not AT ALL realistic.
I tried hard to enjoy Metro, I really did. Unfortunatly it just doesn't know how to brin it's themes into it's gameplay, anyways no mean to offend or piss you off good sir
