My favorite genre is prog-rock, and I'm torn between In the Court of the Crimson King and The Dark Side of the Moon.

And although I don't share your opinion on Quadrophenia being the best album ever I do consider it one of the greatest pieces of art I have heard (but not my favorite Who work, that title rest in The Who Sell Out).

Dark Side of The Moon.

Though, any of the other three really big Pink Floyd albums (Wish You Were Here [my avatar], Animals, and The Wall) can be considered comprable in the progressive rock genre. In fact, many consider The Wall better than Dark Side due to The Wall's scope and quality, recognizing Dark Side as second best but important due to it being a major milestone for Floyd (It was their first really big album, and the style they started with their slightly earlier work, Meddle, which was used in Dark Side, became their main style to the end of the band's career).

Other great prog albums are The Who's Tommy (not necessarily prog, but it was a concept album), The Alan Parsons Project's I Robot and Pyramid, most of the early work by Yes, Rush's albums, and arguably Queen's A Night at The Opera.

Well I could get in a lot of trouble for saying this, but the most widely acclaimed metal album to my knowledge is probably Master of Puppets. My personal favourite would probably be Anthrax's Among The Living, but hey, I hate Dark Side of the Moon too. In fact, most Pink Floyd (or even most prog in general) doesn't really hit the spot for me either.

Mine's gotta be Ziggy Stardust by David Bowie. I love every single song on that Album (with the possible exception of 'Rock and Roll suicide'), and I would definitely have that as my album if I could only choose one to listen to for the rest of time!

For my favorite genre which is Alternative Rock, I'm gonna have to go with Radiohead's The Bends.

For Alternative Rock It's probably Is This It by The Strokes, I may just be thinking that because I'm listening to a Strokes concert right now.

A New World Record! By ELO for the Rock Fusion genre.

David Bowie (1969) by err.... David Bowie for Prog Rock, I mean I like Floyd and all, but Bowie had such a bigger and better influence on music.

This binary universe by BT, never thought glitch and orchestra would work together so well.

Fall Out Boy's From Under The Cork Tree has to be it for pop-punk.
If you're into that sort of music and you haven't heard Sugar, We're Going Down something is gravely wrong.
Hell, if you're into alternative rock from 2000-onwards and you haven't heard it then something is still quite off there.

The best Grunge album is Ten by Pearl Jam. It's main competitor is without a doubt Nevermind. Think about it like this: if Ten and Nevermind were books, Ten feels like a novel, where as Nevermind feels like a lot of (still brilliant) short stories.

I always found Led Zeppelin quite boring.
That's probably why Mothership isn't your favourite album then.

O dear! As much as Untrue is a very good album it doesn't come close to Phaeleh! In fact I much prefer Repurcussions/Chestplate from Distance to untrue as well! :p

I agree though, Untrue has some awesome tracks on it!

Edit: Looks like I'll have to listen too In The Court of The Crimson King if it's as awesome as people say.
You really should. It's amazing! 5 Songs of pure awesomeness. Sadly, you can't get any bit of King Crimson's Music on Itunes. However, you can definitely get it cheap on Ebay in CD form.

OT: I'm a Psychedelic Rock's man.

The Best 60's Album: A Tie Between The Beatles' "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" and The Beach Boys' "Smile" (PLEASE NOTE: This one didn't come out till 2004 as a Brian Wilson Solo Album and in 2011 as a Beach Boy's Box Set)

The Best Modern Album: Definitely MGMT's "Congratulations"

I'm not much of an album man, really. I like individual songs.
This.
I really never liked entire albums and much less entire discographies, nor do i have an actual FAVOURITE GENRE EVVAAAR, i listen to everything, and while i love a lot of things i don't exactly make a pedestal for either bands, songs or albums.

Hmmm...the "Dark Side Of The Moon" of my favourite genre. I'm honestly not sure. I mean, Welcome To My Nightmare by Alice Cooper is my favourite album, but my personal favourite genre is what I guess could be called "classic punk".

If I were to give it a guess though, maybe the album Ramones Mania? It's a compilation of what are considered the greatest hits by, unsurprisingly, The Ramones. I'd argue this mostly because the album came out around the time that The Ramones were being recognized for how influential they were to the punk genre as a whole, and the album kind of exemplified exactly why that was the case.
