NO! DO NOT GO ANYWHERE NEAR THE GBA PORT.

Seriously, emulation might land you in a little trouble if you're the one out of a million unlucky person to get caught, but playing that solidified sin will be a guaranteed ticket to hell. Get anthologies if you absolutely must, but emulating is far and away your best option if you can't get an SNES.

I've played just about every FF in the main series now, and VI is definitely my favourite. The villain is cruel, malevolent and just plain nasty, because he can be. It's an interesting dynamic that doesn't occur too much these days.

Also, all the characters had stories, even the optional ones, and characters could develop loads, or not at all depending on how you played it.

ANd, it's got one thing no Final fantasy before or since has ever had; the glory that is - Ultros!

He was in 12 as well (as "Orthros"), but didn't have a speaking role.

I couldn't recommend the anthology to anyone, the load times killed that so bad for me, I just got it for GBA instead, it runs faster than the PSOne version, and has a improved script over the SNES version.

My first Final Fantasy was X and people say your first is usually your favourite. I've now played every main title and VI is my favourite, why?

Kind of interesting that you'd mention that, I played VII first and IX i my favourite, and XII is probably my second-favourite.

I've only played VI for a couple of hours so far, and one thing I've noticed is that the characters do have a lot of personality despite having very little time to establish themselves, and the music is very memorable. One thing that I kept thinking was that VI would be much more enjoyable on a handheld for me, as the pixels don't really translate well to the bigger screens of today, but it'd be great on a DS or PSP.

They do if you look at the style more than the resolution. If you do want it on a handheld, SNES9xTYL for PSP is the best option.

His complaint probably centers around the removal of a lot of Ted Woolsey's insertions like the Three Stooges reference.

I enjoyed the GBA version more because it's both portable and able to go on a full screen. That's just awesome.

Story and character wise it is the best in the series, and Kefka is the best villain in the series. But the battle system isn't as good as FFVII

Since when does 6 have better writing than Tactics?

I'm talking about the numbered series, I can't speak for tactics.
