OK, so in addition to all the complaints about DA2, some of them are about the "dumbed-down" combat (which is a similar complaint in a lot of sequals) but whats really the difference between the battle in DA:O and DA2? its still click-on-enemy-then-click-on-skill/spell.

Sure it kinda looks more actiony becuse of the character animations in battle, but thats just for show. You still have tactics, you still have skills/spells that you click on them then on an enemy, you still have pausing, the only difference i can see is in the view change, which yeah I preffered the isometric view too, but it doesnt dumb down the combat to be in the 3rd person.

So whats the difference really?

I noticed a lack of friendly fire damage for spells and such. Thats it really, as far as I can tell.

Not that this hasnt been discussed to death, but I dont have anything better to do.

Well. The main difference is that the story of DA:O didnt suck. Imo. The gameplay was secondary.

That, and the fact that the conversation choices was a very interesting gray-gray-gray in DA:O while they were cherry-pink-black in DA2. God what a trainwreck. Thank god we got companies like CD Project.

There isn't one, really, if you look at it. Aside from the fact that combat is a bit more over the top than it was in DA:O, since you can make enemies explode with stabbing them.

Actually, more than half the choices were fairly gray. Even those that seemed like the obvious good or bad answer would usually screw you over because it was a trap. Plus, while you can be nice all the time, some people don't want you to be nice and you fuck up because you tried to save the guy that was a killer.

The only pure black/white decision I recall was the one where you visit the person that you worked for to get into Kirkwall.

actualy i was talking only combat-wise. Why people claim that has been dumbed-down ,when it realy doesnt seem that way. Im talking purly mechanics, not graphics or other story gameplay

I found the most annoying part of the mechanics is not being able to lock the camera.

I play nightmare, so it's crucial to be able to aim AoE spells and such properly without obliterating the party.
When I backpedal or strafe, select a spell, and then the camera starts swinging.

I spent an hour-long boss fight holding down the RMB ...

The second most annoying part of the mechanics is not being able to zoom out far enough.
I know the this bit right here is going to get hit by an AoE, so I need the whole party to move to the right.
I select the whole party, and then the indicators of where they're headed jumps all over the place 'cos I have to pixel-hunt to click on the floor, with the target location being small and obstructed.

The third most annoying part of the mechanics is planning.
You see an encounter, and have a plan of attack .. and then wave after wave of foes appear out of thin air.
It's fucking stupid if you're playing on a difficulty mode where your characters can get one-shot.
