Whats the easiest PC game to mod?

I want to be a game designer when I grow up so I thought about getting a game that's easy to mod. That way I can practice and see what I come up with. Does anyone know any good games that are good/easy to mod?

GMOD. It's incredibly easy to mod, even for beginners.

I'd venture a guess and say that anything that's run by the Source engine is a good bet.

From what I hear, the G.E.C.K. on Fallout 3 is an intuitive tool to use.

Marathon, yep it's from the '90's, but it is freeware and comes with the programs needed to change the weapons, aliens, levels, and maybe a couple-a other things.

Something source based since you can basically do anything to them with Garry's Mod.

The mods people make are the best part of the entire game.

Halo 1 is pretty easy. It's got:
-HMT (Halo Map Tools): By what I understand, it's mostly meta swapping.
-HHT (Halo Hacker Tools): I haven't used this one before; I think its a highly advanced version of HMT.
-Sparkedit: Map editor.

It takes a bit of practice, but these three programs are very easy to use once you get the hang of it.

The GECK and Elder Scrolls Construction set are easy to build environments with. That's probably what you want to go with, Bethesda put up tutorials so you can jump right in:

Anything open source because, well, you'd have the source code right at your fingertips. Everything's open for you to play around with.

reallllllly depends on what you want to do with it.

Find the engine you like, find the game style you like, and then let your imagination run wild.

Great candidates are:

Yeah, its a bit late here, so im out of it
But part of me knew that would get a response like that, and I kind of like it.
