Although it's kinda embarrassing, the first album I ever bought was the Pokemon 2BA Master soundtrack (but I was only about 7 or 8 at the time, that makes it ok ... right?).
But the first REAL album I bought was JET's 'Get Born'. A classic Aussie album in my opinion and changed many of my views about music and also made me start learning to play the guitar.

So what was your first album and how has it effected you now?

This is gaming? Huh.

Mine was Eminem's Encore a while back. Good album, even if it's not really that much to my taste anymore.

It was the Men In Black soundtrack, on cassette. Didn't really affect me much - it was mostly hip-hop, which I'm not massively into.

Beatles are quintessential stoner music, dude!

Carlos Santana, Abraxas. I was 8. Still love Santana, although my taste in casual listening has gravitated more towards hardcore punk and classical these days.

I'm so ashamed to admit this but... it was a Backstreet Boys album... Sigh...
But, it terms of when I actually knew what music was, I got a Eminem album. I don't regret it, because it lead to discovering Marilyn Manson and metal in general. The first rock album I got was Sum41's Chuck, which is fucking brilliant. Seriously, it's gotta be on my top 5. It's such a shame that Sum41 became so generic.

Daft Punk - Homework.

Since then I've always loved Daft Punk. Or pretty much French house/electro in general.

Umm...One I bought with my OWN money? Can't freaking recall.

That I ever owned? Smash Mouth's Space Lounge.

The whole album is great. Fuck "All Star".

Blue is the Colout - The Beautiful South. I think I was about 6 at the time and I couldn't get enough of it. It didn't exactly define my taste in music as I didn't really get into music for another 9 years. But I still listen and love them though.

Generic incorrect forum comment.

Anyway, it was Queen's Greatest Hits I and II, which I still love. I may be a metalhead, but everyone [sub][sub]except Furburt because he has no sense of fun[/sub][/sub] loves Queen.

The first metal album I bought was Death Magnetic by Metallica. Fuck the haters, it's an awesome album. Everyone loved it when it came out, but then they remembered it's "cool" to hate Metallica. Go fornicate yourselves with a wrench, posers. D<

Ride The Lightning - Metallica
Vivid - Living Colour

I got them both at the same time back in 1999, so I would have been... 7.
Impact? well I do listen to alot of rock/metal, but I do have some hip hop in my music collection... so it has had quite an impact on me...

Also, what has this got to do with gaming? Unless we're doing market research for a new Singstar or Rockband?
