Soul Calibur 4, the sheer amount of combo's you have to stomp in your head to get a fun looking fight...just not cool anymore. I don't regret it thát much though.
GTA4, simply for repetivity and depressiveness. I, again, only regret it a bit though.
Unreal Tournament 3, that was a massive letdown, not even close as adrenaline pumping as UT99. Imo they payed way too much attention to the looks, and the vehicles screw up the original UT99 feel as well.
Spore, one of my biggest letdowns ever. I never thought the editors would be that...uninspiring. The gameplay itself was simply shallow and way too easy, bleeh.

Infinite Undiscovery and Zoids Assault. Paid full price for the second one hoping it would be like Front Mission. Damn you impulse purchases.

I bought Oblivion for about £12 and instantly regretted it. I just couldn't get into it at all, I've never been able to overlook its flaws and bring myself to sit down and break it in with a solid gaming session and now it just sits in a carrier bag in my wardrobe somewhere.

i kicked myself for a week, i played it for a day, and got ridiculously bored.
that ever happened to anyone else?
In my opinion this should have a poll of one game Prince of Persia so we can all click on it and voice our disappointment.

It's not just me, it can't be. Terrible game. It was boring and then you had to do it twice, ooh spoiler. no. spoilt. Shouldn't be associated with the other games. Tosh.

To avoid a situation like this I always watch reviews and many many MANY videos of a game before I even consider purchasing it. If I am not sure I just rent it :)

Although I bought Far Cry 2 and I have yet to play it. It got boring after the 3rd mission :(

HOLY CRAP! I feel sorry for anyone that bought it... If you played it and did not die of boredom, you are a national hero!

Left 4 Dead. Not because it's not a good game, but because I bought it for PC and now my PC is so laggy (incidentally it's a laptop bought for university) that I literally can't even play five minutes of it. The cutscenes are all OK and I don't have this problem on any of my other PC games (save for online DoW Soulstorm, but that's usually because of the other PC's people are using). I just don't see why I can't play L4D? I can't even get a refund either because I bought it cheap in the closing down sales at Zavvi, and that's gone bump in the recession, so there's no point in getting the refund or a replacement. Should have spent my money on Half Life instead... (although I'm getting that soon via Steam, £25 total for every Half Life game and the entire Orange Box. Gotta love cheap things... :D).

Semi-recent full price I'd say Rayman Raving Rabbids. It's kinda meh in singleplayer but when we tried playing it on a party the multiplayer was just lame. To some degree Super Paper Mario, totally bogged down with pointless RPG crap. Yes I knew it had RPG elements but I didn't know it would slow the game down to a crawl like that. I mostly try to avoid full-priced games and wait for pricedrops and at lower prices many games aren't very disappointing.

Though I guess honorable mentions go to Devil May Cry 3 Special Edition (quit at the flying centipede thing boss very early in the game, difficulty is NOT making the camera unwilling to show you the projectiles you're supposed to deflect!) and Tekken 5 (I actually enjoyed that 3d brawler minigame more than the main game because the main game's controls were just so complicated it was plain unplayable). Oh and FEAR (quit in the fourth mission, horror is when you are afraid, not angered by the pathetic damage output of your rifles that seem to be completely incapable of killing a "cloaked" melee enemy before he reaches you even if you unload the gun full-auto into his head during his entire approach) and Half-Life 2 (quit in Ravenholm due to some difficulty spike, I've seen a friend play past that and the next area didn't look any fun either so I didn't feel like trying to play further and when I tried to reinstall it once I was on a net connection that only allowed HTTP so the DRM didn't let me play). I should have seen that last one coming though because I never played HL1 singleplayer much (only mods and multiplayer), I just gave in to the hype because EVERYBODY was talking about the game. Now I'm considering the Orange Box because of Portal (everybody says it's a must-have...) since 15€ is too much for Portal alone but I'm worried about the other games turning out to be useless baggage.

spyro for the ps2.
Indeed. Went completely downhill after the PS1 games. They were good (I still have them back home, under my bed), but after the PS2 ones came out they just got crap.

Unreal Tournament
Multiplayer good.
1 player soooooooooooooo bad.
Protect the prime nod. No! Let me kill something. Attack the prime, get on a vehicle. What made the original Unreal Tournament great was each level was a deathmatch. Well thought out level design. great guns. Two of those things are missing from the one player.
Protect the prime nod. eugh.

I've got three that all sit on the same level of regret.

1. Shadow the Hedgehog (nuff said)
2. Harvest Moon: Its a Wonderful Life
3. Mario Tennis (N64)

I'd say Dead Space because its developers have no idea what a keyboard looks like.

No More Heroes, hands down. Never has a game gotten so old so quickly: about an hour. A really shallow experience that's made worse by pretentiousness and tedium.

Though behind that one I wish I had gotten Fallout 3 for the PC instead of the PS3 but that was actually a gift so I can't really complain and I'll probably get the PC version used at some point just to try the mods and user created GECK realms. I just don't like the fact that they're saying they aren't going to support the ps3 version anymore: this is after fixing the rather trippy glitches but leaving in the game crashing/freezing glitches.

My wife is really into the sims (2 at this time) also. She got me into it too, though I usually just like to design houses and stores; not too into the characters. It IS a living dollhouse, I can't imagine many guys would be into it.
