Neverwinter Nights 2 and D&D Tactics come to mind. At least I could trade in tactics when I discovered how horrible it was. Finding out that I shouldn't touch PC RPG's in general, however, is not a lesson I shall soon forget. I just can't get my head around using a mouse to play an RPG...
Lost: Via Domus and Enter The Matrix, both occasions where I believed the hype and didn't listen to the reviews. Good learning experiences.
I wasn't going to say this, but since many of my favorite games have already been maligned in this thread, I'll say I regret buying GTA IV. While I don't think I'd be able to go back 9 months and convince myself that the game wasn't worth $60, I still was wholly disappointed with the experience.

Soldier of Fortune: Payback. Terrible, useless game..
Also Lost Planet: Extreme Condition looked so awesome but it ended up being really terrible aswell, its so boring

For me Banjo Kazooie N&B on 360. Got it just after I finished playing Forza2 so yeah.. was so horrible driving those cars around with all the crappy assists that it has.
Assasins Creed, so much hype.. I found it rather boring for 90% of the game.
Soldier of Fortune 3, SoF2 had a great online community back in the day.. the sequel just failed on several levels.

Power Quest for the GBC, a crap button masher that got impossible at the end with a 30 character password system. I spent $30 on it. I don't know why
