I've got the uncut version of The Stand right here in my hand and it's 1153 pages, although it's a good sized hardback.Inverse Skies said:If a book series doesn't count (and I'm guessing it doesn't) then it would be The Stand By Stephen King, around 1400 pages long. And I've read it four times. A very good book that one.
And what great books they are.inhuMANATEE said:im not sure, probably one of the Dark Tower books
OK, so it's a clown sometimes. Still a great book, despite the clown thing not being perpetual.Inverse Skies said:It isn't a clown, it just enjoys appearing as a clown because children aren't frightened of clowns and it has a warped sense of humour. What It really is I still think is one of the most imaginative and amazing things I have ever read.Queen Michael said:It has a clown that kills children; and that's why it's better.
Paperbacks are obviously going to be a bit longer than hardbacks. It's would be hard for me to say though. I would have to go through my Song of Ice and Fire/Wheel of Time/Malazan Book of the Fallen series to see how they compared in length to my copy of the stand. Even then I could be wrong. I have four bookshelves in my room alone.Darth Pope said:I've got a uncut version of the stand right here in my hand, and it's 1153 pages. OT: Longest book I ever read was probably A Storm of Sword by George R.R. Martin. One thousand four hundred and some odd pages long.
That varies a lot. My edition is 1138 pages.Darth Pope said:I've got the uncut version of the stand right here in my hand and it's 1153 pages, although it's a good sized hardback.Inverse Skies said:If a book series doesn't count (and I'm guessing it doesn't) then it would be The Stand By Stephen King, around 1400 pages long. My uncut version is (checks) 1421 pages long. I think the original was around that before they re-released it with more stuff in it that had originally been edited.Darth Pope said:I've got the uncut version of the stand right here in my hand and it's 1153 pages, although it's a good sized hardback.

Aha ha ha! Sorry about being so specific!Queen Michael said:OK, so it's a clown sometimes. Still a great book, despite the clown thing not being perpetual.
I'm delighted to find someone else here who's read that one! My Swedish translation was about 1100 pages.rokudan said:Musashi by Eiji Yoshikawa. just south of 1000 pages, 8 pt font, single space.
I agree, the stand is an incredible book. Its been released with all 4 books in one, and it ends up at a massive 1200 or so pages, but the longest book I've read is Stephen Kings "It", reaching an incredible 1376.Inverse Skies said:If a book series doesn't count (and I'm guessing it doesn't) then it would be The Stand By Stephen King, around 1400 pages long. There's a new one coming out? Yay! I can't wait, it's pre-ordering time! The Tommyknockers was alright, but his other amazing books include - The Talisman (with Peter Straub), The Dark Tower series, From a Buick 8, Cell and Lisey's Story. They're my little list of favorites anyway.Zhandarr said:I agree, the stand is an incredible book. the longest I'm going to read will be Under the Dome. This is King's new book to be released on Nov 10 in England, and will be longer than It. Oh god.
(Page counts were taken from Hodder published paperbacks)
And yes, I agree with 2 posts above:
1. Its better than the Stand because it's more original.
2. And its better than the Stand because it has a shapeshifter that kills children.
I must say though, The Tommyknockers is my favourite King book, along side Cujo.
