What's the name of those super long coats?

Hey y'all!
I'm trying to find a new jacket and I stumbled across this super cool looking coat. It's one that detective Gumshoe wears in Phoenix Wright

Does anyone know what it's called? I've looked for trench coats, but they're not as long as his coat. His coat goes down past the knees. Why can't I find those damn coats?

ALSO! Do you know where I can find a green pretty coat like his?

It's a trench coat.
I don't think they make them this long nowadays but you may be able to find one in a store where they sell vintage stuff. Note that it may look cool on fictional characters but not everyone can pull off wearing a full sized trench coat, i.e.

Yeah, you don't see trenchcoats that long anymore, the other type of long coat I'm aware of are Dusters [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Duster_%28clothing%29], which were worn in the Old West, and you still can find those around somewhere, I wound up getting mine used, I'm not sure where you would find a new one outside of maybe a costume shop/custom tailored.

There are also greatcoats, but they are basically just heavier, warmer, less waterproof versions of the trench coat.

The ones you typically see in fiction are trenchcoats, and they see more use than greatcoats (at least outside of the military) nowadays.
