Well that's a tough one. Because among the films I've enjoyed, the oldest is probably the original King Kong, that or the skits of Charlie Chaplin (But those hardly count as films). Though in terms of movies which I have seen that are old, my favourite is definitely Roman holiday.

The Godfather.
It's the shit.
Or maybe TOS of Star Trek, because even if it was a tv show, it was usually an hour long, and by todays standards, that means movie.

I don't know how old it is, but I like the Maltese Falcon. I hate the character (sam spade is a mysoginic prick) but the movie itself is a neat trip back in time. runner up: the recording of the wright brother's first flight

Seven Samurai

Longest Day

Zulu, which happens to have the most awesome music scene in any movie (Zulu and Welsh in a battlefield "singing contest")

12 Angry Men, I first say it in my 9th Grade English class and I was just amazed how brilliant the film was, if only I could see it again without people talking all around me.

I watched a movie called "I Was a Male War Bride" once from 1949 and thought it was pretty funny. I haven't seen any of the old classics though.

The General (1926) and Metropolis (1927) both outstanding silent films. I high recomend Metropolis to anybody who hasn't seen it.
