I tried on and off for a year but I could never beat the boss at the end of Otogi: Myth of Demons. I leveled up as far as I could go, collected every weapon and MP, but I could never quit kill him. It's my gamers biggest failure.

Ruby and Emerald WEAPONS in FF7, I realized several days after trying it's the reward doesn't equal the work.
Dullahan from Golden Sun The Lost Age, but I mean by not summon rushing him because it's stupid and requires absolutely no skill. The reward is an ultimate summon that is actually worth it to get.
Pretty sure there are others.

Quoted from a similar thread:
Zophar in Lunar 2 takes 1st, because as insane as Ultimate DK and Spikey are I've actually beaten them several times. Zophar's second phase has five segments, each one possessing more HP than any other boss in the game apiece. Each one gets its own attack, usually the head using one of Zophar's two single-person attacks that are a guaranteed kill on them unless you used the White Dragon Summon in time (Nova and an unnamed attack which is just him laughing... deadliest laughter ever). With an item cap of 15 and no way to replenish any items you used on the way through his castle, once he kills Ronfar enough times you have unquestionably lost. No boss in any Final Fantasy or Wild Arms can compare- I've beaten them all except for Penance and the Dark Aeons due to not having the international ver.

Oh yeah It was an extreme chore beating all the Weapons in FFVII but trust me the feeling of accomplishment is like ultra good like defeating I wanna be the guy good.

On Topic: Some of the Kingdom Heart special bosses demolished me like the in Neverland (I hated that ghost till I figured out what I had to do) and The first Sephiroth the second one they give you the means to demolish him but on the first you might as well be on your own.

Death in Castlevania POR on crazy mode. I had to keep going back and grinding to beat him on NORMAL mode. He keeps getting me with that trick where the four hands grab you, and when he does that, it doesn't really matter what mode you're playing, it's pretty much over. Also Im stuck on Bjorn from Dragon Quest 5, but that was before my daughter learned kasap and my son learned kabuff. I'll try again soon.

Probably the hardest game I ever played was an oldschool 2d rotating ship blaster called Sub Terrania. I never was able to beat the final boss in that game, ridiculously hard stuff and almost impossible to get to in the first place with no option to continue afterward! Grrr. ;)

I've beat FF7 43 times now. So take it as a grain of salt, from an obsessed fan... but you're a nut. How can you get to the end of such a great game and NOT take advantage of the biggest challenge it offers? Who cares if the reward sucks! (Yes, they do. You're right there.) It's the challenge that matters! That being said, Counter materia is your friend. It stacks, so you can have up to 8 on each character if you felt like leveling that much of it. 9999 damage (Maxed out physical) x8 (Counters) x3 (Characters) = 240k damage every time Ruby hits you. Oh, and Gravity magic (even rank 1) does max damage to Emerald. Enjoy! ;)

that damn ball thing from Final Fantasy 9. It didn't even look cool and it took a long sidequest just to be able to hit it.

I think my friends still trying to beat Sephroth in KH2. He has over two thousand atempts and all of them fails. As well as Dealing with Kammey Koopa in Paper Mario The thousand year door, she and bowser were a *****. But dealing with The shadow queen at the end was even worse. Finaly beat her after 90 attempts.

What about Omega in FF8, and the hardest weapon in any FF? His hit points were somewhere in the millions, and you basically had to be lucky to beat the fucker.

Yeah but those are the kind of hard bosses that I don't like the ones that are more "Keep spamming with your strongest attacks and hope he doesn't use that one." That's what I had to do to beat him. As for Ruby and Emerald I had to devise a little bit more.
