I disagree with most Dead Space reviews. The game sucked and it felt like it was made to hold me over for Resident Evil 5 (which wasn't very good).
So reviews aren't normally opinion? I would have to disagree with that.AtLeastImNotFrench said:Also reviews on open-ended games that don't appreciate the fact that the reviewer's experience could be very different to someone else's, thus almost changing it from a review to an opinion.
Me to. For the first time around. I played through Far Cry 2 once, and it was a great game. I tried playing it again, and it PISSED ME OFF. SO I stopped. Maybe its because second time around, I tried to discover everything, but meh.DalekJaas said:I disagree with yahtzee's review of Far Cry 2. I really really like that game.
Hey now yahtzee is a great reviewer I watch them for entertainment value but I look at his opinion of a game also.I really don't think anyone does exactly what yahtzee says so much that they will avoid games because he says so. Like all reviewers his reviews are based on personal opinion.Onyx Oblivion said:Pretty much all of Yahtzee's reviews. He's a terrible reviewer and the fact that his fanboys do pretty much whatever he says means that they will miss out on quite a few great gaming experiences.
Also, any review that disses Oblivion without a decent explanation as to why. I accept most arguments, but not people who stop playing after the tutorial.
To be honest, I have an odd relationship with Oblivion: I can see it's potential, but the god-awful leveling system just kills me every time I try to play it. That's the one thing that makes me dislike it so much: it rings of admiring a Picasso that someone threw up on. Might write a review on that next week, considering how I did FO3 this one.Onyx Oblivion said:Pretty much all of Yahtzee's reviews. Oddly enough, the leveling system is one of my favoite parts, once you get to understand the intricacies of it, its like cracking an egg and revealing the edible part. The way you get better at everything through mere practicing immersed me in the world. Fallout 3 ditched it for a cop-out simple leveling system that just gave me skill points. And half of them had to go into science and lockpicking, if I wanted to explore every last nook and cranny. As for reviews... they're subjective. People will like/dislike them no matter what you do. Hence I attempt to write mine to be as factual as possible, giving someone my opinions while offering up supportive evidence.
