What's the point of MW2 intel?

Well, I've beaten the game, (got it the day it came out, finished the game in 5 hours) and now i've set myself on search mode for all 45 pieces of intel. I've just recently found out intel has no use in game. Is this true?

Absolutely none bar the achievements you receive upon getting them all. I miss CoD4's Intel and theawesome cheats it unlocked.

I only collected MW2 intel to advance me to the shiny PS3 Platinum Trophy.

Then why post? It's stuff like that (and bloody "Ask a ___" threads) that get your probation.
