Because the argument that games are murder simulators is getting a bit old-hat.

(BTW Nudity IS NOT EQUAL TO Sex - which probably isn't that bad either [provided it's not sodomy])
Am I the only one who finds that part I bolded to be very offensive and intolerant? Cause it would seem everyone has rather ignored it or simply not noticed it.

There's a very good reason nudity is a taboo. A reason I think is best illustrated by this short educational video:

I have never understood americans on this topic..

They can show people getting every limb torn off, they intestents removed and eyeballs chewed on by little baby beavers..

But as long as there is a teeny weeny nipple slip, it gets cut out or censored..

Where is the logic in that?
Its like saying: Make war, not love!

My parents never really cared about me seeing nudity. They didn't let me say anything worse than damn and hell up until I was about 14 though. After that, as long as I didn't start cursing like a madman, they didn't mind.

I don't see a problem with nudity and swearing. Up until a certain point, nudity is going to just be an idle curiosity thing, and at that point, they'll start pursuing it on their own; and in this day and age, unless you're restricting their internet access with various programs, they'll find it.

Swearing? Ha. Kids swear as soon as they know the words are 'bad,' just not around authority figures who have an issue with cursing.

Kids must be hidden from everything until they are 13.
At which point they magically become able to cope with the prospect of nipples and swearing.

My personal stance: Like with disease and pain, kids need to experience these things so that they can build up a tolerance - not hidden from them because as we all know, we all want what we're not allowed to have!

As someone with a potty mouth to rival Gordon Ramsay, I still think that swearing, while fairly harmless, isn't always appropriate. For example, Frankie Boyle was hilarious on Mock the Week but when I watched some of his standup, I didn't laugh much, mostly because he spent half the show abusing his audience and using the word "c*nt" in pretty much every sentence. It's the one cuss I don't like to use and only do so when describing a person who I don't like very much - most politicians, generally.

The video with Stephen Fry is spot on, in my opinion although there has to be a limit. Swearing every other word isn't funny - it's called Tourette's usually. Either that or you're just a pillock. For swearing to be funny, it has to be used judiciously or it just fuels the prude-brigade's argument.

As a world-renowned clumsy bastard, I find myself swearing loudly whenever I knock something over or whack / trap / cut some part of my anatomy. It's cathartic and seems the natural reaction.

Nudity, I think, is great but it needs to retain some of it's allure. I find it kinda exciting when I get a teasing glimpse of female flesh, knowing it's going to get better. There are pracicalities to consider, as people have already said, but I do think that nudity isn't nearly as bad as society makes it out to be. I found my first porn mag on a building site aged 7 and so far I've not been traumatised, brain-damaged or had Satan knocking on my door. I think it helped me develop a much more open mind. I'm not saying we should all walk around with everything on display but get some perspective at least.

I think the reason so many people go all out to keep a lid on nudity and swearing is because they are easy targets. Like so many so-called do-gooders, they don't have the balls to take on any REAL problems so they go digging for problems where there really aren't any. It's so they can convince themselves (as well as trying to convince everyone else) that they are making the world a better place by making sure nobody says "shit" whilst copping an eyeful of a naked lady on page 3 of The Sun.

Whenever people start harping on about how swearing is bad and the hundreds of Americans up in arms about Janet Jackson's nipple being a threat to the fabric of decent society, I say this: "Why don't you fuck off and do something useful?"

Stephen Fry's voice is so comforting.
I know, i listen to the audio books he reads out every night while i sleep for the last 10 years, and i sleep great.

There will always be one social taboo thats pointless and there for the sake of tradition. Go to any society anywhere ever and you will find things you just dont do for any reason if it makes no sense

Swearing is okay as you don't do it over the top. A fuck here and there arms no one.

Nudity =/= porn. I hate porn, yet I love it. Anyway, a naked bum here isn't harmful to the kids, neither is a wonderful tit.

this actually a very simple reason. but here is the amazing thing: South park already touched on the subject and have made the best argument. we are currently living in an age where children are educated by tv and media. parents are ok with being absent from their children s lives but they dont like the idea that tv might make them bad kids....yeah parent logic doesn't make much sense in my head either but roll with it people it works. there isnt a problem....just people who think it is a problem

Swearing is taboo because it is offensive, and it is offensive because it is taboo. If certain words weren't considered to be "bad words" then they wouldn't be used as swears because they wouldn't be swears at all. Personally I think that's exactly why such words should be allowed and become more common, as removing its meaning/reaction removes its power, until it becomes meaningless.

As for nudity, it's the same circumstance. When I was a child, my family had very lax nudity taboos; me and my brothers were allowed to run around naked if we wanted and our parents wouldn't mind if they were seen changing or entering/exiting a shower, and as such I never needed to be told the difference between boys and girls, among other things. As long as groups of people attribute something bad to certain parts of human anatomy, from genitalia to ankles, then the problem will persist.
