There was a similar (sort of) film made called Frozen [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GiUNsDVjCbo] (not that one [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zdgGWKYaG98]) where a trio of kids get caught on a ski lift on a Sunday and the wacky hijinks that ensue.

I think what makes these kinds of horror films actually terrifying is that they're possible. People make stupid oversights in their jobs all the time and this is the kind of mistake that would happen to someone like me. I'm forgetful and late for stuff all the time so I could see myself very stupidly getting caught in a pool like this, were I ever compelled to go swimming in a public pool. Certainly this is more realistic than most of the supernatural nonsense that horror films cook up.

That said, I've never ever seen a public pool with an automatic slipcover so I dunno what the hell that nonsense is all about.
