So in the history of video games there are many games that have been taken and given sequels and prequels but my question is which series is the strongest?

this question popped up during a discussion with my friends the other day and we had a loooooooonnng talk about it and the series we picked was:

POKEMON!

I was surprised we picked it but I couldn't think of a bad game they put out

I concur with your choice but this is in the wrong forum! Get it moved to Game discussion.

As I have never played FF series, Pokemon series, RE series or pretty much nothing from the east i go with Call of Duty, though the last one was a letdown it still holds the bar high.

Final Fantasy.
Have to agree with this.
14 Main titles, and countless titles located off the beaten path.
And it has to be profitable, how else would it warrant sequel after sequel?

The Final Fantasy or Tales series.
This. Both Final Fantasy and Tales have had so many games, and all of them sell like crazy.

I thought it was obvious, it's where the kids get the latest hair styles.

Final Fantasy series? Are you joking? Sure everyone has a favorite Final Fantasy game, but hardly anyone loves ALL of them. I'd call that plenty weak. I'd have to agree with Pokemon, though I do so loathe the videogames/movies/shows/cards/universe...

I personally can't think of a series I like that I'd consider strong. I don't think Street Fighter counts since it's just a good dozen different renditions of the EXACT SAME GAME.

Yeah, no. Can't think of one.

1. Mario
2. Final Fantasy
3. Pokemon
4. Tales series
5. Shining series
6. Three Kingdoms series
7. Dynasty/ Samuria Warriors
8. Shin Megami Tensei
9. Guitar Hero
10. Rock Band
11. Zelda
12. WarCraft
13. Dance Dance Revolution
14. Grand Theft Auto
15. Elder Scrolls

Unless you only mean here in the west, in which case remove 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, and 13 would be lowered.

The Elder Scrolls. For all my hate for Oblivion, *cough cough* not as good as morrowind *cough cough*, it's still a great game. When TES5 comes out it'll sell great and be a great game.

I disagree. Does a series have to be loved by all to be strong or just sell well consistently for a long period of time, even if those who buy it then profess their unbridled hatred for it on TEH INTERNETZ?

I think not. For example, these three from a post above mine:

1. Mario
2. Final Fantasy
3. Pokemon
are all strong, long series because they're still selling well and have been doing so for a long time, even if the vast majority of people you talk to despise how each pokémon game is just the nth rendition of RBY with new gimmicks attached and a new list of pokémon like the 'awesomeness' that is Combee.

Am I really the first one to mention Katamari?
They don't get stranger than that; except for maybe the Pixel Junk games.
...

Ohhh. Strongest?
Mario.
His games sell like crazy.
