What's the wierdest thing you've ever believed?

I was told by my mom at 5 that if I chewed my nails, a hand would grow in my stomach. And more recently that "enjoying myself" would make my palms grow hair.

I keep thinking that I'm not actually who people think I am. I keep feeling that I'm some kind of robot or parasite or something controlling a human body.

OT: That a fat man dressed in red crawled down my chimney to leave presents. A fairy changed out the tooth I just lost for a quarter. That there was a pink bunny running around leaving eggs filled with candy (not sure I ever actually believed this one, but it fits my theme). What the hell is wrong with a society that lies to children and sets them up for inevitable dissapointment?

BTW, in case anyone missed it, Santa Claus, the tooth fairy, and the Easter Bunny are all made up. If this is news to anyone, I am sorry it had to be told like this, but the pain would only be worse later in life.

I sometimes flip back and forth between believing that I'm the only sane person, or that I'm completely insane. Then I ask myself which is more likely and I decide to stop thinking about it.

I also believe that most people are incredibly ignorant, hypocritical, irrational, and cruel. I think I have serious problems and really don't know what to do about it. But basically people disgust me, no matter how many times I open myself up to them they completely reject me. I'm completely unwanted and useless to them. I don't understand how life is supposed to work but I'm definitely doing it wrong and no one will help me.
