Whats the worst "anti-games" argument you have ever seen/received?

I do think that the whole "anti games" thing isnt around so much, because games are more mainstream, gamers are now adults and anyone who does say such things usually gets shot down with logic

but anyway...in the name of rightous anger whats the worst anti-game insult/argument/attitude you have ever seen? or been the receiver of? [/B]

OR alternitivy not just games..mabyt the worst "insert nerdy hobby here" insult you have ever seen?

unfortunatly I dont have any good stories....the only time ever was when a small conversation I had with mum, she asked generally "how long" games would take, I said around "20 hours or so" (which is probably not how long dead space 2 is, the game i was playing at the time) to whcoh she said somthing along the lines of "that might be hard if/when you have a job"

whcih kind of really annoyed me (unemployed at the time) because it implyed I had had poor self control and would actually simply not go to work in order to play games

but thats hardly anything bad, my parents are cool with it anyhow

I remember a few years back there was major controversy over Bully; Rte based their entire 5 minute long report on one screenshot of a kid being punched in the face by the protagonist. I was pretty livid about it at the time being a kid and all.

From the old AD&D days, because there was once a kid who got sooooooo into the game he KILLED himself!

Except, I knew about the fellow they were supposedly talking about. He had attempted suicide because his girlfriend had broken up with him. And she had done that because he had a history of mental problems stretching back to when he was about 5. And on top of it all, he had NOT killed himself, but simply ran off and was found alive in another state.

Thankfully for the poor guy, he finally was sent to a mental hospital and actually was getting some help at the end.

Oh yes, and because since the game has fantasy things in it. . . .it must be SATANIC!!!!!!

I hate it when people still think that Grand Theft Auto is only about hiring prostitutes and then killing them. Really? You overlooked the fact that there's rich characters, an engaging story, all wrapped up in a thrilling crime setting?

There was this one time my mum walked in when i was playing Persona 4 (best gaem evar, naturally), she took one look at it and said something along the lines of "why are you playing something so childish?"

I'm certain she was refering to the aesthetic style, since in her mind anything in anime style must be aimed at children...

The personal worst for me "They are stupid, and for stupid people." Yeah someone said that to me once. They didn't have any valid points, just their opinion that video games where stupid and that only stupid people played them, and that she was superior because she didn't play them.

Now for other hobby I used to play M:TG. Man I was called everything under the sun regarding religion for that one. "You know it talks about devil worshipping in those right?" Blah Blah Blah, bullshit. Fuck.

The thing that gets me banging my head against the nearest wall is the argument that "Games are for children, and there's so many violent games out there that aren't suitable for children, games companies are exposing children to violence and training them to be desensitised killers!"

NO, you idiots, games are made for different audiences, just like books or movies. Games have an AGE RATING on the front cover, try looking at that. If you picked up a DVD and the box had written on it "XXX Hardcore Donkey Seduction, For Adults Only" would you assume that it's suitable for little Billy? Of course you wouldn't. So Gears of War 3, which has a man with a chainsaw on the front cover and an 18-rating the size of an old-school 50p piece? "Oh, it's just a game, it'll be all right!"

Tl;dr: games aren't (all) children's toys. Stop being stupid irresponsible parents.

at my old school people would say [it was a christan school]. We were discussing Crime and why there are more crims then ever before.

My teacher says 'due to the large amount of video game sales as of late. It has made kids and teens more desensitised making them more violent and angry. Which i why there is more murder/robbery and Rapes.

and i put my hand up a avid gamer and i said 'i play video games and im not violent or desensitised to violence. Also where are you getting this from? where is your source for this?'

he replied with 'Well your not violent yet but one day you will just kill someone and enjoy it'

and i said 'Your full of it. you don't have a source and your obviously pulling this out of thin air'.

i got Detention and was sent a letter home in regards to my and im quoting
