Very much like my VIth form. I remember when we had a PS2 in our common room , each game had to be approved by the Head; It was unbelievable: We were only allowed FIFA and GT4 . They banned stuff like Tekken, NHL etc. If you brought a laptop onto the site you had to sign an agreement that IT could literally search the hard drive to remove "objectionable content." I remember being forced to delete GTA2 that I had left on there by accident.Trezu said:

Well, honestly I think if a lot of the "sexbox" accusations would have actually been positive for the media (if I remember what your talking about correctly) because I think the lack of sexual content in "M" rated games is one of the things holding the medium back, I think game developers are too prudish overall which is why I thought complaints about sex in video games like the whole "alien sideboob" thing from Mass Effect were hilarious when you consider some of the things I've seen in "R" rated movies over the years.I Have No Idea said:
As far as "Grand Theft Auto" goes, let's be honest, as richly developed as the characters might be all of the major characters are glorified sociopaths... even Niko, it comes in degrees, but not one of these characters is anything but a murdering scumbag when you get down to it. I mean the characters in "Grand Theft Auto" games are no worse than those from various crime or horror movies. When one of the most favorably reviewed and positive shows of all time is "The Sopranos" which totally revolves around a group of complete scuzbuckets what you see in "Grand Theft Auto" is really no big deal, and honestly "The Sopranos" is pretty tame compared to some other works in the genere. about school... At another point Chris and Paulie wound up killing some waiter who complainted about Chris not leaving a tip after a fairly elaborate dinner and thought murdering the dude was no big deal compared to the situation that lead to Chris not
leaving the tip.... I mean WTF, want to talk about murdering sociopaths this is all on a similar level, especially the latter bit.
Well I once saw some one who said that Video games inspire violence. (This was Fox of coarse. AKA the idiot christian right.) They actually had a sensible person there for once who said "Maybe the parents should actually heed the warnings on the game label? Most of us gamers usually play games to relax and chill out"

In the UK its more complicated. The Vast majority of games have this PEGI thing, that is used across the EU , its not that useful as it has no legal standing in the UK, its just an advisory. Some games (like GTA series, MadWorld) have the BBFC rating which is the same as used in films. This is legally backed and it is an offence (heavy fine) to sell an 18 certificate to anyone who isnt 18 or over . Most places will actually ID you if you are buying an 18 (I am 21 and still get ID'd.) So basically the only way for a little kid to get hold of an 18 certificate is to get an adult to buy it for them. Surely the industry can't get the blame if some negligent parent buys their 12 year old kid manhunt?

Well what do you expect from a chat show, presented by a barely competent GARDENER of all people. Kevin McKenzie is the Editor of the Sun a tabloid that is full of controversy. And that Julie Peasgood who is a voice actress in Martian Gothic : Unifaction . A game that is just as violent as those that are being discussed.
