I'm having issues with a teacher right now, and I'd like to rant for a moment.

In my Geology class, my teacher was pregnant and had to leave a few weeks ago. While she has the next six weeks off, we have a sub to take her place. Now, my Geology teacher was somewhat strict, only she was a very kind woman who had different rules than our other teachers. (i.e., we didn't have to ask to go to the bathroom, we could just leave whenever. We could listen to our iPods in class if she wasn't talking. We could use our cell phones if she wasn't talking/inbetween bells. And, we could eat and drink as long as we cleaned up after ourselves.

Now, our sub is a fat, evil woman who yells at us every day for being horrible people (which is an over exaggeration). She took away all those nice privelages and made a few new rules:

We can not have our headphones out, even if it's between bells. My friend had his headphones around his neck walking into class, before class started. He wasn't listening to music. She took his headphones away and threatened detention.

We have to raise our hands if we want to get up for ANYTHING. I mean, every time someone needs to blow their nose or sharpen a pencil, they have to raise their hand and ask. Not only is this rediculous, but she always waits to pick on people after she's done talking. So, if you raise your hand for a tissue while she's talking, you have to wait until she's done. Then, when she askes "any questions?" and picks on you, you will say you need a tissue and this just annoys her. Makes no sense.

Finally, we can not have WATER. I understand no food, but now there's no water. And I don't mean you can't drink water, I mean you CAN'T HAVE A WATER BOTTLE OUT OF YOUR BACK PACK. She told us this rule, and the very next day, a few kids had water bottles on their desks, including me. She took someone's water and threw it away, then told all of us to throw away our half full water bottles. I didn't want to waste my water, so I quickly drank all of mine then threw the bottle away. She then told me to SEE HER AFTER CLASS for disobeying her.

So, what's the worst teaceher/experience with a teacher you've ever had?

Wow. Um, nothing quite that severe, but I've had bad experiences. Like the English teacher who made us do a biography report on a famous black person for Black History Month, but wouldn't let a kid do Bob Marley because "he worshiped marijuana". Never mind that she let me do Ray Charles...

ROBERT FUCKING EMERSON, the fucking art teacher.

He eats puppies and likes the Nazis.

A list of shit he pulled:
Threw my pencil case on the ground because I stuck my paper on the cardboard frame on a slight angle.
Shouted at one of my friends for like 5 minutes because he missed a lesson because of his dad's funeral.
We all sneaked into his office to get one of my friends books back because he took that for no good reason. When we got we saw some marijuana and a bong in his bag.
When my brother had a broken leg he rested his crutches on one of the benches in the art room. When the crutches got in his way he threw them on the ground and broke them and refused to pay us to pay the hospital back.
Got a kid suspended for having cough lollies for his sore throat.
And other than that was just generally a rude asshole.

Can rot in hell for I care.

I've had some bad ones, but nothing to bad.
I mean I've had some overly strict ones, but none who have been I guess downright unfair assholes.
I've had English teachers threaten to take away phones for a whole term(a full term can be 9-11 weeks) if they're seen anywhere during class time.
I guess the worst I've had was in Primary school, when I was fighting with a kid outside the school grounds (like on the footpath close to the school, but what would be considered out of bounds if it was school time) (parents saw it and some students, I did still have my uniform on) and after school hours. I got 2 weeks worth of in school suspension and the kid I think got suspended as well. Even to this day, I know how bad it looked for the school, but I still think it was bullshit.

Mrs. Burden (on society)

GOD I hated her so.
I was one of the 3 white kids in my school at the time, now this teacher hated white people, and constantly singling me out because I was white. she would say stuff like my ancestors enslaved everyone Else's and eventually somehow turned the entire middle school against me and the other 2white kids, I hated middle school.

Yea I am pretty sure you can sue him for some of that, especially the broken crutches money, at the very least get him fired

He got fired and sent to jail for multiple drug crimes. Before he was a teacher he drew suspects in court for the news and made plenty of enemies... the showers will be particularly "friendly" there, hahahaha. And when he did go to jail we went around to his house and started smashing up his property out of spite because the dick head lived alone.

Now that's what I like to hear, I hate all these stories about horrible teachers/people/etc that never have any closure, I love hearing the satisfying endings to these stories, I wonder if you could still get that crutch money though

The crutches didn't cost much to get fixed, but it was more the principal of the thing that made me pissed.

Oh I remember when my History teacher was out for like two or three weeks. Had a gym teacher... teaching us history. What he did was essentially "Okay, read up to this page, don't look up further", while he secretly read ahead so he knew what to talk about tomorrow. He was a bad person, he just was incompetent. Can't blame him though. After all, those who can't do, teach. Those who can't teach, teach gym.

My third grade teacher stabbed me in the thumb with a pencil, told the whole class that we weren't going out for recess because I hadn't finished my work, and wouldn't let me eat lunch with the other kids because she decided to assign me extra work, because I worked too slow in class, as I have severe ADD.

I had panic attacks every day for the entire year, I cried because I was afraid to go to school, and I still have a scar on my thumb (13 years later).

That is the worst teacher I ever had.

Well, my experience was not even close to the severity of these stories, but when I think "worst teacher", I think of "worst person teaching their subject." In which case, that'd fall on my Sound Recording and Technology teacher.

He wasn't bad, per se. But we had a very comprehensive class about the MANY different types of sound equipment there was out in the world, not to mention that we had to cover a few old school models. And the only time for class was on Mondays from 6 pm to 9 pm.

But the reason I add him is because, for the second semester of this class, the material was heavily based on the stuff we learned from the first semester. Again, nothing out of the ordinary. But come mid-term time, we all had a one-on-one session with the teacher to go over our midterms. And while that was happening, we would wait outside and talk about our experience in the class.

As it turned out: no one passed the midterm.

Granted, it was a very small class of 6 or so people (myself included), but still... no one passed the midterm. No one.

.No.

The History teacher I had Freshmen year. He had legitimately been teaching at the school since there was stables for horses. I'm not joking, and he was apparently a horrible teacher the entire time he taught there. He lost some people's finals, and just gave them an F. Me and some friends filed a complaint, only to find out it was his last year there. Although he still coaches. We had to do essays on things he referenced the day before. He was also quite an asshole.

Looking at the other posts I suppose I should be lucky, but my worst teacher was my 10th grade science teacher. She wasn't really mean, but she would frustrate you to no end if you had any plans in completing anything. On every single assignment she would hand it back three or four times because apparently she thought of a new way to do it. At one point, after working on this worksheet for well over a month due to her always changing it, she gave me a terrible grade on it because there was one small part that was not "kick-ass" enough. To this day I have no idea how to make an answer regarding geology "kick-ass"

She was also an Obama supporter who on multiple occasions tried making us write papers on how amazing he is. On one occasion she actually brought in people from the oil industry in to talk about Obama's energy plan. As soon as she realized they didn't have anything positive to say about Obama, she tried to change the subject. I don't care if some one supports Obama, but it has no place in the classroom.

Mrs. Stephens. Keyboarding teacher freshman year of high school. My mom worked in the high school office my whole life so I was pretty well acquainted with many of my teachers by the time I reached high school, as well as the goings on of the school. Mrs. Stephens was one of those teachers that didn't try out for the "keyboarding teacher" position, but wasn't competent enough to run a BCIS or computer science class. She hated her job and she took it out on every unfortunate bastard that dared have to audacity to take her class.

I had her class first thing in the morning, and I remember one day in particular, our assignment was to write "letters from santa" to some elementary school kids that wrote letters around the holidays (don't ask me what the hell this had to do with keyboarding class). Now, I had missed her last class and she was always a real **** when it came to people turning in work late, so priority #1 was get the late assignment done first (the class was an hour and a half, I figured it's plenty of time to do both assignments). Now, I remember on this day I didn't get enough sleep, I had orthodontic work done the day before so my entire mouth was achey, I didn't have breakfast, I was tired, hungry and sore and just wanted to be left alone.

She was making her usual rounds over the classroom of being an overall overbearing shit wafter when she got to me and noticed I wasn't doing the current assignment. "Mr. Lynch, what are you doing? Why aren't you doing todays assignment?" "oh, I missed the last class so I-" "OH SO YOU THINK THIS ASSIGNMENT ISN'T IMPORTANT? SO THAT CHILD IS GOING TO BE THE ONLY ONE WHO DOESN'T RECEIVE A LETTER BACK?" she made sure to say it loud and draw the entire classes attention and paint me as some sort of Snidley Whiplash type who masturbates with the tears of children. That was just one day in particular, I realize that may not be as horrible as other people's stories, but I had to put up with that level of all around douchery on a daily basis. It was the sort of annoyance that added up after a while. I mean, I'm not saying that I HATED her but if she were on fire and I had a glass of water, I'd drink the water.

My Physics Teacher.
He's new and from a shmutzy private school district. He came here, expecting to educate the dumb city kids who've never had physics before. Turns out his curriculum is useless without the $15,000 of lab equipment he somehow expects. THIS IS A PUBLIC SCHOOL DISTRICT IN A RACIST TOWN. All the parents who would fight for money and better standards in the school district pulled out and enrolled their kids in private schools as their response to the desegregation acts back in the 60's and 70's. This means that we have the highest rate of Private School enrollment in the nation, tied with Washington Effing D.C.
The jist of it is that he cannot teach, we are proceeding along at 1 mile an hour, and have not learned a single thing of physics in the first 5 weeks of school.
Did I mention it was an AP course? Cos this is somehow supposed to be worth college credit, if you pass the test at the end of the year...
We won't.
Not only is he slow, he underestimates each and every one of us. He thinks we're idiots when we are the best and brightest of the senior class, fighting to get where we want to. He is trying to teach us experimentally, using lab equipment instead of actual teaching. I learned what displacement meant because of calculus, not this.
He never teaches the class as a whole either, he sneaks up on you and sort of criticizes your work, never quite telling you what is wrong, and never saying something stupid to the whole class, because we, as a class, are very powerful at arguing our cases. We can efficiently debate with teachers and justify our decisions and answers. This guy, not so much. He changes subject and flees from answers.
He is a bonehead and many harsher words I do not feel like typing.

Nothing THAT terrible, worst I had was a physics teacher who was absolutely clueless. Once got into an argument with him about the difference between an AND and an OR gate in a logic board when he realized his wrong "oh well we're promoting good discussion". Then me and a friend had similar answers on the exam about the same thing and I got marked wrong he got marked right. Facepalmed so hard that day.

Your experience seems awful, you have my empathy. At least she isn't permanent? I once had a teacher in middle-school, I don't recall what it was our class did, but we pushed her so far towards the edge she had multiple mental breakdowns. She took a leave of absence for months, I think she was our teacher for about 1/8th of the year.
On the flip side though, the substitute teacher we had for that period was one of the most inspiring and encouraging people I've ever known, and to this day I credit him as one of the most important people I've met in my life.

(Sorry, that was offtopic, I guess it was just the opposite end of the stick in that we were a class that the teacher couldn't stand).

But I did have a teacher in highschool that fits your criteria.. Just thinking about her makes me cringe. She was an older woman, probably close to retirement so perhaps that made her callus, but she taught C++ programming, a subjects I was highly intrigued by when I began the course.

Didn't feel that way by the end.

I truly went into the course with a desire to understand and learn the language, so when I didn't comprehend something I would approach her with my question. She laughed. Every time. I don't deny I probably asked silly questions, especially to someone with her experience, but to laugh at my every attempt to get help? She was monotone with everything, drilling off information as if she was reciting a shopping list. She sat at her desk content to do nothing all class but paperwork.

I. Could. Not. Stand. Her.

Asking for help.... I mean, I could care less about the other things, but to literally find humor in the fact someone wants help from you? Appalling. I hated her. And by the end of the course I was sick of C++. I hardly understood it, had no encouragement from her to do so, and I recall programming now with a cold sense of resentment instead of what should have been a profound interest.

Thanks Ms. Nieman.

Thanks a lot.
