In Canada, this anti-smoking crusade has gone to great lengths. Store owners can't even display cigarettes in the store, they have to keep them behind cupboard doors and such. Our drinking and smoking age is 19, our driving age is 16.
Where it starts to get really fucked up is that the government runs the locations where you can buy alcohol in some provinces and as such are profiting from it. Now, tell me who has your best interests at heart there?
I will agree that smoking is worse for your health, and for other people's health, than alcohol, but alcohol can still be abused and still cause problems. I also feel that marijuana should be legalized, but it should also have the same rules as smoking and drinking applied to it, like not being allowed to drive while under the influence and the 19 year old age limit. Hell, the government could make a killing off it, while saving tons of money in law enforcement.
